Philips 25" Full HD LCD Gaming Monitor (253V7LJAB) - $168

Hi Guys,

Can someone please point out the bad things about this monitor for casual gaming? Unfortunately no reviews online…

$168 seems like an OK price to me for a 1ms monitor with VESA mount as well as HDMI, DP and VGA inputs.

  • Wow looks very good. 1ms response time, nice design, freesync tech (good if you have an amd gpu). looks good to me at a quick look

I didn't see freesync in the specs. If it had that… that makes it a much better value proposition.

      • Guessing someone at OW confused adaptive sync with Freesync…

Philips Adaptive Sync technology = AMD Freesync

It's an okay monitor for gaming I guess. Nothing stands out as being particularly bad, but it also has none of the newer gaming features. So TN panel - bad viewing angles, bad colour reproduction, but those don't matter for gaming so it's ok. But it has no extra features, no freesync, no >60hz, no 1440p, etc. It is 25" though.

For a run-of-the-mill monitor, you could do worse.

Edit: I stand corrected. As phunky points out, Philips Adaptive-sync is Freesync. This is actually a nice deal.

    wow! cheapest freesync monitor

yes get it if you're running amd gpu , else no.

    • Thanks - Still running a 650Ti but looking to upgrade that as well.

  • Even for casual gamers 144hz is worth the small extra investment, if you push your budget ~$80 or so you can grab a 144hz panel from Gumtree etc, makes a world of difference.
