Was So Excited When I Bought That 60" TV from ALDI Last Weekend

Until I tried it today. I know it's cheap but still very disappointed.

Yeah that happened because it was cheap

True. A quality TV would not get the ABC.

A quality TV would only get the ABC.

        • Wait. Don't tell me….you're a university student aren't you? :P

          @EightImmortals: Not since the 1980s :)

However, I don't want to see the "Honeybadger" in anything like HD - even if it is only in passing on an ad. The murkier the TV is, if you catch a glimpse of a reality TV program, the more tolerable it is.

@try2bhelpful: Having not watched FTA TV for many years (in fact I'm pretty sure our antenna is busted and I have no desire to get it fixed) I have no idea what a 'Honeybadger' is so I will accept your advice on the matter. Who needs reality TV when you can have….reality? :)

        • @EightImmortals: Yup, I agree with you on the reality TV part. However, I do watch "Have you Been Paying Attention", which I do recommend, and they have a segment on "The Bachelor". As one of the female constestants said as she left "The Bachelor" program "I can't believe I shaved my legs for this".

  • Return

    Aldi returns super easy

    • I bought the refurbed iPhone 6s a couple of weeks ago, do you think that would be easy to return?

    • not always, I thought that until they stuffed me over with a large item they wanted me to ring a hotline and they were terrible.

Packing up a 60" and bringing it back down is not so much easy. it's kind of a chore.

      • They have to arrange it if you request

I thought your disappointment was in relation to the saturated colours. It took me a while to see that the left hand side was faulty!

    • +1

i thought the disappointment was the free to air tv

      • +5

i thought the disappointment was seeing Adam Hills

  • Right side looks just fine to me, bit of lemon pledge will get the left side looking just spot on too! :)

But as others have said, Aldi will take the return back, no issues at all.

  • geez. What brand? I had trouble with the GLITCH brand before.

    • Bauhn, homebrand of ALDI I guess.

  • Sorry to be the spelling police here, but it's in the title so its glaring at me - I believe you mean "excited" which has a "c" in it.
It currently reads like you exited the building via the exit when you bought the TV ("Was So Exited When I Bought That 60" TV "), whereas it should say "excited" :)

    • Thanks, very helpful.

    Easy returns.

Disappointing you've had that experience. I bought one of the 42" 4Ks in th BAUHN brand from ALDI about 3 years ago and it's been great.

  • yeah i grabbed the 55 inch a few months back and its awesome

  • perhaps a silly Q - but - have you gone through the settings to adjust the picture colour temp etc.
I've seen many TV's in the shops (even expensive ones) look terrible and one of the same model next to it looking fantastic..
there are many things that can cause a terrible picture.

    • not a silly question, never assume people have done anything - a good point to highlight even if the OP has actually done that - it might help someone else.

    • It's not the color, the left side part faulty.

  • I'm no tv tech, BUT the distortion on LHS looks to me like pixelation caused by poor signal strength. The tuner in your new Aldi tv might not be as good as that in your old, previous tv. Before returning the tv, I'd suggest you try it on another antenna or antenna outlet.

    • Thanks, I was using ChromeCast.

They managed swap with a replacement, the new one's good so far.
