Scoopon - nothing to complain about

I've bought 4 scoopons and 1 zizzle… i've used 3 of the scoopons with no trouble and same with the zizzle.
The 4th scoopon I haven't redeemed yet.

Just thought I'd share as people seem to be more interested in sharing the bad experiences rather than the good ones.

Each have been awesome value so far.. particularly the $49 for $110 worth of food/drink at Blue Train Cafe. Got a great feed, a few cocktails and drinks as well.

I've bought maybe 10 or so offers from group buy companies including Scoopon and have had no troubles. Whilst I symphathize with the people who have issues, I think it's a bit of a Whirlpool effect where while much of the ISP forums are flooded with complaints, (e.g. TPG, Exetel), the overall survey for the majority of users shows satisfaction with their ISPs. http://whirlpool.net.au/survey/2009/ Unfortunately, people with bad experiences are willing to post their bad experiences on numerous websites until the cows come home.

P.S. I think the 2010 Whirlpool survey results are coming out soon.

  • that's why there's the old saying. where u always remember the bad experiences. you'd tell as many ppl as possible.

  • i've bought many of the vouchers from about 7or 8 diff. site, most of them are fine.
the bisq one was ok. but the food wasn't very impressive at all.
but that's the risk you take with places you've never been before, but there's always the next one!
looking at the olive grove one today. looks good as it can be used for platters!

I used the Olive Grove voucher last week. Glad I bought a voucher and didn't pay full price for there meal. The platters certainly didn't have enough on it to justify its $85 price…

  • I had a great hair style cut for me at Salon XVI… they were one of the first merchants with scoopon. Awesome service, highly recommend them. 1st floor, 267 Bridge Road, Richmond.

I think people with bad experiences will only spread the complaints after their patience run out because of the bad customer service. Can we say that bad reviews/complaints mostly indicate the quality of customer service (how they handle problems)?

    • Exactly. If you get bad customer service from one business (the merchant), most people will give the company that sells the voucher (Scoopon etc) a chance to fix the situation (from what I've seen). I think that it's when the merchant and the voucher seller both have bad customer service that the complaints start coming in.

If you look at many of the complaints here, the customer has contacted the business and the voucher seller and has had no resolution.

I had a bad experience trying to use a voucher last night. I have since e-mailed the company I bought the voucher from and will await a response before complaining publicly.

      • I agree. My patience has just run out from not getting a response from anyone. I googled Chatters Cleaning again to try and get an address or another contact but found nothing. I did however come across this forum and when Scoopon had not replied twice, I decided to post on here.

Guess what?? Finally I got a response and Scoopon have advised they will refund me.

I won't get my hopes up but I'll wait and see.

I bought my first Scoopon and we'll see how it goes in a fortnight. It was for the Warrior Dash (it was less than half-price but the time slots left were extremely limited). There should be a law that established that a Scoopon cannot be a limited deal else the discount cannot be advertised. For example, if I can only use a voucher on a weekday even though a normal voucher can be used on weekends I am not really receiving the same product.

I already posted on one deceptive find on another forum.

"1 Scoopons (sic) sold and rising fast" and it's already almost "tipped" with several days to go!

    So it makes you wonder:

    (i) How many Scoopons are available altogether?
(ii) How did Scoopon come up with "rising fast" with a single data point?

Group buying sites can sound like greasy salesmen when the sites' designs don't consider all the scenarios.

I love how a lot of the companies selling services shamelessly give a "regular price" that's 20% to 200% more than what's listed on their website. Or a particular diving company that goes so far as creating a new website and business name to substantiate the more expensive regular prices?!
