I've currently been using the z623 2.1 speakers for 7 years now with my TV and consoles. They're still going strong, but I'm on the fence about whether I should replace them with the YAS-108 soundbar. I've heard it in store, and I liked the 3D surround it produces. The inbuilt subwoofers produce good bass too. I live in a small studio apartment, so I'm wondering if the change would be good.
That said, it will be a $300 upgrade and I will be losing the dedicated subwoofer. I'm after more clarity and sound separation though, so I'm tempted. But then I don't want to buy it but be disappointed in the bass compared to the z623. Buying a separate sub is an option, but that's more money to pay.
The z623 speakers are a popular choice, so I'm wondering what people's thoughts are.
Worth it, or save the money?
Can you use your existing sub with the soundbar? That would mean it's less of an investment. Or are you looking to sell that?
I'm considering a soundbar at some point too. I have a 5.1ch system with a receiver, but the current room layout means it's not really feasible for rear satellite speakers.
I looked at the YAS-108 and some other soundbars, and it's really hard to tell how successfully they produce surround sound. There's only so much it can sound like in store.
