Quite expensive tbh, been much cheaper before
Great gimbal if you use an iPhone.
The Android software is awful and because basically all the features are reliant on the software it's pretty much useless. Check the reviews for ZY Play on the Play Store for info on how bad it is.
which is good for the androids then?
I briefly tried the Osmo Mobile 2 and it seemed better, but I'd want to use it more before giving it a solid recommendation.
I think the Smooth 4's biggest problem is that to use pretty much all the features of the hardware you have to use their camera app, with other gimbals you're less limited.
Which one is better? Smooth Q or smooth 4? What’s the best price for the 4 you have seen?
Thank you! I should have searched that. Any feedback on 4 vs Q?
Large phones can't be balanced right on Smooth Q. Phone will hang tilted, poorly stabilized. Brought one to use with my Samsung Note 8, now gathering dust.
Can someone tell if the Smooth 4 is built to accomodate such large form factor phones?
@Irate Monk: It can, that's what I've been using with it. The software really is awful though so I wouldn't recommend it.
@raistlin: thank you for the input. Maybe DJI Osmo mobile would be apt.
@Irate Monk: I've tried the Osmo Mobile 2 briefly with my Note 8, and it worked fine. Didn't play with it too much, but the software seemed much better too. Waiting for a cheap deal on one before pulling the trigger on it.
@raistlin: Have you tried it with Filmic Pro?
@Flying Ace: Nope, although I did notice that it recently got support for it. I'm kinda annoyed that Samsung has locked down its camera to stop 3rd party apps from using all the features of the camera, which is why Android support sucks so badly, but I'll give Filmic Pro a try eventually.
@raistlin: thanks again. Osmo mobile 2 sounds promising. I'll keep an eye out too for any lucrative deals.
They serve different purposes, the Smooth 4 has some nice film making features that aren't really available on the Smooth Q, Smooth Q is a bit more of an overall generalist gimbal. The joystick on the Smooth Q lets you do some smooth tilting and panning that isn't really available on the 4.
It all really depends on how you want to use the gimbal.
Thank you! I thought they were similar and still have to learn more about it.
someone has voted everyone down here. Relax mate, life is good.
Yeah, they're obviously waiting for a special on This item
wtf is a gimbal?
A camera stabiliser. When shooting handheld it reduces/removes hand shaking so you get smooth video.
Watch some youtube videos filmed with gimbals, the effect is quite amazing.
Boom. Great product. I wish it can with a carry case though.
THESE PIECES OF PLASTIC ARE VERY VERY VERY SILLY MONEY
