Hi everyone I am buying an office chair as a gift for a male friend in his 20's. I was thinking of giving IKEA or office works a look as I am sure they will have some. Can anyone recommend a chair or store that would be suitable i was hoping for quality but certainly not wanting to spend $250+ unless there is a really good reason.

Try these guys… my chair is nearly 7 years old with very little fabric wear, and the padding is still plush.
Thanks bang on price point!
I've been rocking a DXRACER chair for a few years now. It's been fantastic. Think it was slightly above your budget at around $300 though.
I'll give it a look thanks
I bought an Ikea MILLBERGET Swivel chair in black ($99) and have been using is almost daily for 2 years and it's still good (much to my surprise) so you could consider it as a good starting point. They come in white/black combo now which prob nicer at home then just plain black.
I bought a Thermaltake GT Gaming Chair in the 25% off ebay sale. Pricey, but I have zero regrets. So comfortable, tilts all the way back without unbalancing, adjustable everything, and it looks and feels like a throne.
Thanks everyone. I ended up getting a customer returned chair from officeworks for $50 it was a $150 chair. Due to a slight mark on one of the arms and ended up getting him a bunch of other office related things considering the bargain.
what do people think of this?

That looks good to me would be interesting to hear from someone who has used the product at $99 you don't have much to lose I guess.
Bumping this to get any other suggestions. I'm quite tall so need something where I can adjust height and the base as well as some tilt for the back
All their chairs are rubbish, invest in a solid chair which will last you years as oppose to months.
