[WA] Wagyu Beef Sirloin MS4-5 3.2kg Special by Dorper Lamb $176 Delivered @ Dorper Lamb

60

Hi guys,
This is my first post so I apologise for making any mistakes. I've come across this deal and found it to be considerably cheaper compared to other butchers.
I ordered my first batch yesterday(12/09/18) and received it this afternoon(13/09/18).Ordered from dorper lamb website as posted in the URL link. I usually get my wagyu sirloin from a different butcher at a much higher premium and quality wise, it looks similar. Free delivery in Perth Metro area or minimum spend of $150 for other areas.
The beef is Wagyu F1 Red by Stockyard. I believe this is a cross between a Wagyu full blood 100% bull over another breed e.g. a fullblood Wagyu bull over an Angus cow is referred to as F1.

$176/3.2kg = $55/kg

Stockyard Red Label – Marble score 4 to 5

OK, this is the second post in 2 days about very expensive beef. I love beef.

Where in Melbourne or Sydney can I pay to learn and sample why I should pay more than 2x more than my local butcher for a tasty beef dish?

This is so anti-ozbargain it hurts but red meat is my weakness.

    • I sell wagyu. PM me

    • Ive been loathe to comment on these meat posts lately as people have, shall we say, strong opinions and don’t want to hear anything that goes against their predjudices.

Anyway, having said that, in my humble opinion, in Sydney, the best meat supplier is Vic’s Meats. Vics supply the 3 hatted restaurants in sydney like Quay and Sepia (as well as Bennelong and many others). If you’re buying over 3kg you can go to their warehouse/factory in Mascot:

      https://www.vicsmeat.com.au/home

They also have a retail outlet in Woolhara, which has super premium cuts and super high prices (up to the $150kg):

Finally, they have a market outlet at the Sydney Fish Markets which often has really good, high quality meat in the $20-50 kg price range as well as putting on meat appreciation and cooking classes:

Anyway, I’ll repeat this is IMHO. If you think Costco sells high quality meat, then there’s probably no reason for you to ever go near somewhere like Vics, who have nothing to do with “Instagram wank” as debated in the other post.

One other suggestion if you’re serious is Feather and Bone in Marrickville, they do butchery and cooking classes, as well as having a retail as well as doing lots of markets:
