I got an MX300 500gb about 2 years ago, works just fine, it does however get slower as you put more data on it, but that's true of every SSD. Still fast boot up times, but opening a folder or explorer sometimes lags a little, but almost every other program opening is still swift. I would recommend buying this as it's one of the best budget SSD's around, nothing comes close to it. Obviously for quality I'd choose a Samsung 970 EVO but these will do the job. Your PC should boot up in less than 20-30 seconds and opening Chrome and other stuff is within a second. You can't really complain unless you transfer huge amounts of data every day.
Hi KARMAAA, how about this vs Samsung 860?
It's sometimes better than the 860 EVO or on par with it, not sure about 860 Pro.

EVO 860 has more endurance but who cares, these are going to last you 20 years normal usage. I do prefer all Samsung SSD (2 x 850 and 1 x 860 in my PC) but that's personal preference.
These compare favourably to the Samsung Evo iirc.
"We ran into a problem. Please try again later." error mesage after applying the voucher. Did it work for anyone?
shame no 2TB
EDIT they do have 2TB but still over $500
Is this sata 3?
"Interface: SATA III"
Just have to click on the link to read the specifics
Thanks
Rule of thumb, no one distributes brand new sata 2 drives.
Price is not bad but I'm sticking to $220/TB
Comparable to this for use as an external SSD via USB 3?
You're gonna be speed limited by the usb interface so you won't notice the difference, but in a computer you'll find the mx500 is faster.
How's this compare with the bx500 deal?? Worth the 10 bucks extra?
" The BX500 appears to be a QLC DRAMless SSD. The BX300 is a 3D-MLC DRAM SSD. The MX500 is a 3D-TLC DRAM SSD." - u/alvian
How does that translate into speed and reliability for my porno collection and desire for fast boot up?
I can't condone that you are into collecting porno but the MX500 is the better buy in term of faster speed and more write longevity. Hope that answer your question.
@ChickenAdobo:
How could you not condone that!? It's the sole reason we have nerdy engineering working hard to invent newer and faster ways of accessing content!!
That kind of answered it.. umm is it 10 bucks worth better though??? (looking at the 256gb)I found a comparison… hnmmm 14% most expensive.. for not really 14% increase in speed, capacity or duration…….
http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/storage-ssd-comparison@maddoglee: How is 256GB enough for porno collection? Just FHD porno movie is 7-12GB each, then don't forget 4K/8K HDR! You need min 1 TB!
Back to the question the BX500 will drop speeds in long session e.g porno 4K around 30GB will see the SSD drops speed around mid way? Or imagine opening up your not-porno 890 GB folder it will be slower than MX500.
@Bigboomboom:
Thanks! I opted for paying an additional $10 because even the best technology still doesn't load pornos fast enough. You are right about the size…I'm going to be very picky on who gets to take up space on the new MX500…
Not to mention I will be needing the 1.8 million hours reliability for my intended porno viewing.@maddoglee: Don't worry, Samsung's Z-NAND and Intel's Optane SSD will help you minimize loading time on 8K Porno VR. The future is bright my comrades.
Get the MX500 over the BX300, as it is microscopically faster, will save a fraction on power and has an 2 years extra warranty, because it's a better built product.
I cannot get the POLLEN code to work, it keeps telling me to try again later. I've tried multiple computers, but no luck.
How's the lifespan on these? They bench pretty well.
