Office works - Lowest Price Guarantee - How low will they go?

I've had trouble price matching at EBGames in the past (every time I try get something price matched I get some excuse) and so I was wondering how sucessful people have been with officeworks.

I'm looking at buying a number of items with a total price (according to the prices on their website) of $1,794.00.

I can find the same parts (same warranty even) at other stores for MUCH less, $722.60 total.

If they really will beat that price by 5%, it will cost me $676.97 (a 62.26% saving, $1,117.03).

Would officeworks actually go that low, or would they just tell me it's below their purchase price and give me a different price?

you show your ad, you get 5% Pricematch, easy as that

i have never had a problem with Officeworks Pricematch, best % match for me would probably be:
Officeworks had it for $288, found one with $163, Officeworks gave me the 5% pricematch no hassle down to $154.85

    so $288 down to $154.85, around a 46% decrease(nearly half price)

OW has for $1794, Competitor has it for $722.60, PM to $676.97—> 62.26%

i doubt you will have any troubles PM that @ OW, i never heard of a no PM deal @ OW before

  • I agree with issh. I have price matched a few things. They may take a while to fully satisfy themselves that it meets their policy, after that no issues. Recent example - bought Purefi anywhere 2 for $71 (OW price $198 that is 64% discount) and Nokia e71 for $171 (OW price $199). With Anywhere 2 the Manager checked with their buyer if the price is for Australian product, then price matched no questions asked. Make sure you go with the print out.Or even better call them and see if they have the stock and if they can price match. That way they would have done all their checks to satisfy themselves and they would keep it aside for you. No need for you to go and ask for a price match and being given the run around while they check the competitor price.

  • I have only checked the prices for these items at Australian stores so they shouldn't have any trouble working out if it's a Australian product or not.

I have actually never tried price matching at OW, Never bothered checking because I don't really buy much from there anyway.

I've price-matched at OW countless number of times. It's been great.
Never had any problems. They do check it up, and that sometimes takes time, but in the end, I've always gotten it. I prefer it because I get the item at that time, not having to wait for delivery, or travel elsewhere to pick something up.

I've gotten $100 off products before, and even 60%+ on a couple of occasions. As long as its a genuine price-match under their terms and conditions (not grey-imports, needs to be Australian warranty, include delivery fee etc…), I'm sure you'll get it.

If they don't for a particular reason, just get it off the original website…

  • They didn't price match a HDD for me, they said that the other was OEM while theirs came in a box (as in cardboard). We just shrugged and went to the other place.

If other store is in OZ or same state then pm @OW without any problem or just included postage in pm.

OW have been nothing but great with price matching. Only on the very rarest of occasions will they actually even bother checking if you've got printouts of the prices you're matching.

The only 1 complication I've ever hit with price matching are items that you have to custom-order, such as items available online but not instore. I did this with one item and I had to pay full price for the item to get it "into the store" and then the staff refunded my credit card the difference with the pricematching. Apparently they did this because the price could fluctuate and so forth. I was a little skeptical handing over all my money to them to start, but no problems on getting the partial refund.

Aside from that, they're the best. I even had them mess up and give me 50% off instead of 5%, leading to an iPod at about 70% off RRP. Not so much chance of that now everything's computerised with the % off, but I like to hope.

      LOL nice

  • I'll call them tomorrow to find out if they are willing to beat the prices, I might not be ordering it until April though >_>

Maybe prices will drop a bit more ^_^

  • I've got a Brother printer, OW didn't want to match the Good Guys and reckon they could not do the Brother Cash back either.

    • Is it the HL-2140? Because OW dont actually stock that, they stock the HL-2142 (which is an identical product but exclusive to them). Im pretty sure they worked out that deal with brother in order to avoid pricematching.

Screw OrificeWurst, that pack of A-holes piss & moan about honouring their own policy, not worth the battle IMHO for 5%. Just buy it from the other shops who are offering fair prices up front! ;)
