I've just noticed the new BX500 drives are now on eBay. Slightly cheaper than the MX500's yet similar performance possibly faster..

Comparison of the BX300 to the MX500(The BX500 cannot be compared with the BX300 or the MX500. The BX500 appears to be a QLC DRAMless SSD. The BX300 is a 3D-MLC DRAM SSD. The MX500 is a 3D-TLC DRAM SSD.)

  • Look like the BX series is the budget range from Crucial.

    • Why not? You can compare price and performance to derive “value” even if they are different technology.

        You are right, I did not make myself clear. When I said they don't compare I was referring to the UserBenchmark comparison between BX300/MX500 in the description, and the implication from OP that we can extrapolate those results to the BX500.

          Aha! That makes sense, I appreciate the clarification and agree entirely.

          Wait a minute, this isn’t how the internet works. We’re supposed to argue over minutia and resort to straw man arguments and make ad hominem attacks! Please try harder next time; maybe start by insulting my intelligence?

    • so MX500 better?

        Better than what?

        • The BX500

        • @SeriouslyJk: Yes, the technology is better.

        • @alvian:

          I'm looking at getting a budget SSD for my old computer. I won't use it that often, but when I do will play some battlefield and overwatch. How's this SSD for occasional AAA gaming?

          Just need load times to be fast enough my team doesn't kick me :o

          @ozbjunkie:

          SSD makes next to no difference for gaming performance (FPS). Only benefit is loading times by a few seconds.

        • @PainToad:

          Roger that. I still feel like I need a mx500… But really I want to save that 30 bucks…

  • So which SSD is best bang for your buck these days? Targeting usage for VMWare ESXi/Hyper-V

    • As a Hyper-V host?
