    Great series….. very funny.
Not to everybody's taste, but if you like the podcasts, this will be right up your street.

Funny at first but by the last one comes across as a whingy Brit putting it on for the cameras.

Funnily enough I started watching this last night.
Had quite a few belly laughs.

    A funny guy.

  • Love this series!

  • The things the other travel shows don't show .

  • Great series!
Read on Ricky's blog that Series 2 is in talks to go ahead :)

  • A possibly useful tip.

I'd bought stuff of Zavvi in the past and they sent me a 10% off voucher very soon after.
But it's valid for only a few days.

So if you have a big purchase, you might want to break it into 2 smaller purchases
and use the 10% voucher on the 2nd order.

    Scummy? Probably.

the dude is putting it on the whole time. to be honest i found it forced and not really all that funny.

    • Perhaps… but it's still funny.

      From wikipedia
      """
Merchant and Gervais themselves have repeatedly denied claims that Pilkington's comic persona is their creation. In an on-air response to similar claims made by Chris Campling during a broadcast on XFM, Merchant stated that he would be "ashamed" if the radio show were scripted, adding that "If we had created Karl, I would not have squandered a character that good on this poxy radio station".[12] Gervais concurred, pointing out as a comparison that writing a single series worth of half-hour episodes of shows such as The Office and Extras took the two up to a year.

  • Funnily enough I received the DVD from my Sister a couple of days ago and watched the first 3 episodes last night. I thought it was very good but couldn't help think that its mostly exaggerated and lets face it it would be hard not to be knowing thats why he was there with camera crew etc. I am from Manchester myself and I know blokes that would be completely lost in some of these places and rarely venture far from there local with the odd trip to Blackpool, seeing them crossing some desert on a camel in the middle east would be hilarious. For $16 it well worth buying anyway even if its not 100% for real.

    • have you ever listened to their podcast? you cant fake that shit.

  • Ordered. I'm a bit like Karl so I probably won't get it! Cheers I think. Cheers.

  • This show is hilarious! Thanks for letting me know about the deal, a couple of friends just ordered it also. Zavvi looks pretty cheap too for UK based stuff, I ordered all of Karl Pilkington's other books for $6 or $7 each from them as well. I've seen the show before in SD but it should look great on Blu-ray. I read somewhere that some of the wonders they visited had never been filmed in HD before this show, so it should be good to watch.

I did a Google search for "Zavii coupon" and found a 10% off coupon which worked last Thursday but expired on the weekend. I didn't have my OzBargain login details with me when I ordered the items, so unfortunately couldn't post the coupon codes here, but it seems they release 10% discount coupons regularly so just do a new Google search each time before ordering.

  • Has anyone who order this received it yet? Mine was dispatched on 8 March but still no sign of it.

    • Yep, mine finally arrived today, it says it was dispatched on 14/03/2011. I was a bit worried it was taking too long, but a book I ordered at the same time arrived a week ago, and another book I ordered a week later arrived last Friday, now the Bluray finally arrived with another book which was dispatched on 10/03/2011. For some reason the parcels are all jumbled up and arrive at different times with no apparent relation to when they were originally posted, but they seem to be arriving safe and sound.

I'm still waiting on the final book I ordered from Zavvi, but the order screen says they're still waiting for stock and it hasn't been posted yet.

      • Thanks - I guess I'll keep waiting. My letterbox looks so empty every single day!
