    Does Hertz do split payments?

  • Any manual link? Please.

    • Like all amex offers, you've to login to your amex online account to see if the offer shows up on your card.

    • The posted link is a manual link.

  • Yeah, got this one recently as we did a road trip in Tassie. :)

  • trying to book for sydney airport car rental, website doesn't quote excess reduction, anyone know how much Hertz charges for excess reduction?

    • What card do you have? If you're using an AmEx card (which is what this deal requires), then it should have an excess waiver as part of its inbuilt insurance package :)

    • found my own answer, $34 a day which reduces excess to $0

      • Cheaper to buy travel insurance that includes rental car excess.

        • I know, but the car rental is only 4 days and would be less than $200, so with the addition of the excess reduction and the cash back, worked out cheaper than buying insurance.

        • @iversonjack: ??? Excess reduction is 4x$34=$136. But a 4 day single trip comprehensive policy (with 1cover for example) to the US costs $85 for a 50 year old. The maths doesnt add up to be cheaper to me? Even if the cost was comparable the benefits of actual insurance outweighs "excess reduction" offered by a car rental company.

        • @lainey13: For domestic travel only. If just comparing rental vehicle cover (which is all I need for domestic travel), $0 excess with 1cover with rental vehicle cover is $152, cf $136 with Hertz (also $0 excess). Plus $50 credit from Amex as this would then push the total fee over $200 for activation.

  • Any suggestions on how to add ~$25 to my booking?

I've only found adding premium roadside assistance @ $3.30/day, or returning the car with 7/8th fuel (Hertz charges in 1/8ths), but open to suggestions (roadside means I can't skip the queue as Gold Plus, and returning with 7/8ths might be difficult and/or hard to achieve depending what their refuelling rate is on the day)

    • I'm in the same boat.
My car rental for one day is 188
Thue have a current special for 25 off
So it brings it down to 162

I could hire it for two. Days to bring it to 325 minus 50 but I really csnt return the car on the second day.

Anyone know a way to maximise the deal??

8 could ask them to charge 200 and ask for the rest in cash but thats unlikely to work

  • Still good deal though i cant use it as trip is early next year to nz
