Brew cold brew coffee the easy way with the Hario Cold Brew Pot 1 L. Built with a heatproof Hario glass carafe and a BPA-Free plastic filter and lid, it doesn’t get much simpler that this.

Cold brew coffee is known for being smooth and sweet compared to hot brewed coffee. Cold water doesn’t extract as many acids and tannins, reducing in a low acidity and low bitterness in the final cup. You can use the concentrate to make iced coffee, hot coffee, or mixed drinks.

The permanent mesh filter has 60 micron holes, too small to allow coffee grounds to enter your final brew. It’s easy to clean and should last a lifetime.

Here’s a brief recipe:

Coarsely grind 80g of coffee into the mesh filter.
Add 1 L of cold, clean water to the pot.
Let it steep for 12-18 hours in the fridge.
Take out the filter and store the concentrate in the fridge for up to two weeks.
Mix the concentrate with cold water and ice for iced coffee, hot water for hot coffee, or mixers and a spirit for a coffee-cocktail.

HARIO COLD BREW POT 1 L FEATURES
Low Acidity, Low Bitterness – Brewing coffee with cold water produces lower acidity and bitterness levels, resulting in a sweet and smooth coffee beverage.

Simple To Use – Just combine coffee and water, let it steep, then pour it through the filter.

Permanent Filter – The 60 micron mesh filter keeps coffee grounds out of your concentrate, is easy to clean, and is built to last

Cold Brew Coffee On Demand – Cold brew concentrate keeps for up to two week in the fridge, giving you the ability to make a drink on demand.

free shipping would make this a deal =D

    • Wish the margin was big enough! Great deal & awesome coffee maker! :)

      • Fair enough - I've bought an aeropress and pushed a bunch of other caffeine addicts to your website and it's always been positives.

If this lasts till the evening I'll probably end up buying this anyway :)

        • Thank you for the support! Hope you are loving them! - Have the coffee ready for it, completely different taste to the AeroPress :)

        • @sbjel1:

I bought a couple of these last year. They were great during the summer months. Easy and quick to fill up and minimal mess. Being glass is nice too. Highly recommended.

For those with ebay plus $30.35

    • -3

      Postage $14.95 - total $45.3

Our deal is at $37.90 total :)

      Hope that helps :)

    • Thanks! Bought :) Just started getting into Vietnamese coffee. Looking forward to trying this

      • Vietnamese method is not cold brew.

We still put hot water in the brewer, to extract expressor then add sugar or condensed milk, then ice :)

        • Oh sorry I meant I just started exploring other brewing methods. So might try this too. Sorry for the confusion!

Hi - a little off topic but I have plentiful access to nesspresso pods but no coffee machine at home. Do you think I could put holes in nesspresso capsule and make a cold blend coffee using this thing?

    • Wut? So you’re going to spend $40 on this in order to put Nespresso pods in it? I dont even…

      • +2

He meant the office supplies his Nespresso pods.

    • Hi! How about this portable NS Coffee Maker: https://alternativebrewing.com.au/product/wacaco-nanopresso-…

Sadly it wont work to make cold brew but that coffee maker will work perfect for you

      • But you can make a cold espresso out of this - just use cold water. Perfect for cold espresso based drinks (martinis, cold lattes)…

    • you need alot of pods, average nespresso pod is about 5grams of coffee you need 16 pods for 1 batch of this stuff lol

    • Just buy some ground coffee from the supermarket & save yourself the hassle of opening up all of those pods.

    • Share the pods :-) please

    • Shoot 2 shots into a cup, add ice and water. I use to do it a fair bit.

It's not technically cold brew but it tastes fine

Can't comment on price but we have the 600 and 1000 ml versions of this and they're great. We drink cold brew instead of espresso based drinks in summer. We go through more coffee beans with these than with espresso drinks (would recommend having a grinder too) but it's worth it.

  • Have the smaller version of this which actually cost more.

    It is excellent.

    • Glad you love it!!

  • Off Topic but anyone care to comment on difference between this and a cold drip coffee setup in terms of taste?

    • I just got this answer from the store rep. Very helpful.

hi there, can you comment on the difference between cold brew container and a cold drip coffee maker?

      "hello

a cold brewer like cold brew containers uses immersion method and has a much longer contact time of coffee and water, compared to a drip cold brewer, which has a much shorter contact time of coffee with water. the longer contact time, makes a more full body flavour and slightly stronger coffee :)"

  • Any deals on the stainless steel version?

  • I have this at home & use it weekly. Usually a single brew in the Hario is enough cold brew to last me ~2 weeks. The design is mess free & super easy to use, only draw back is sometimes it takes a little while to fill with water since it needs to soak through the grounds when initially filling up.

If you have a "french press" coffe pot at home already like this you can make cold brew coffee very easily. Just fill the jug with ground coffee (same ratios) and fill up with cold water, then give a quick stir with a spoon. Leave in fridge (glad wrap on top) for 24 hours. Use the press and push all the grains to the bottom and pour coffee in a glass bottle etc. and stick in fridge.

We have one this many times and works perfectly same result and much cheaper if you already have the press.

    • I do this, except when pouring I further filter out the grind and residue through some cheesecloth. Works a charm

I'm not even mad that I bought this a year ago at full price. I drink better cold brew than the ones they serve in cafes :P would recommend! Might even grab one and gift it to a friend haha

      Same.

Some days i put some kahlua in

      • The drink contains rum, sugar, vanilla bean, and arabica coffee.

Oh wow. TIL. I'll have to try it out thanks!

  • Can anyone recommend a grinder that would be suitable to use for the coffee beans if I were to purchase something like this?

    • +2

You can't go wrong with OzBargain's favourite coffee grinder!

      • +1

Agree we use the Breville just set it to the coarsest grind if using french press works a treat

  • +1

Upvoting because I now know about Cold Brew Coffee - will use my french press though.

got one, thanks op, can't wait for summer to give this bad boy some love

    • Have the coffee ready! Thank you

    • You can actually heat it up after brewing for a hot coffee too, or even just add hot milk for a latte. It's the reduced acidity that does it for my sensitive tummy, I find myself having it both hot and cold.

      • What's the taste like compared to an espresso?

I'm still new to coffee, but I've had Aeropress, French press, obviously all sorts of espressos. I find French press too weak, Aeropress sometimes too weak, sometimes very acidic, and espresso is just delicious. Penny for your thoughts? You seem like you know what you're talking about!

        • +1

Actually, I sometimes wonder if I do not have taste buds at all. My kids have said they think I would eat dog turds if I thought they were good for me. It tastes better to me, espresso I generally need to add a dash of milk at least but this is maybe less tangy. Maybe it's not as bitter that I am noticing. I am sure if you google cold brew coffee reviews you'll get a better idea of taste but why not just give it a shot? If you have a french press or something you could make some overnight. If not, even a jug and a decent strainer / cheese cloth maybe. Grind as coarse as you can.

  • Bought one. Thanks OP!
