    "Pass those plates around"

  • This is old version. They are selling out. The new one is much better and it’s Kevlar bulletproof.

      bulletproof

      [X] Doubt

How much is the new one?

    • I think I'm plenty adventurous but I must admit, I've never sought bullet proof protection in any backpack.

      • you don't need one, you don't plan on getting shot in the back running away, right?

    Can it stop a bullet?

    • Buy and try and let us know

I’m annoyed at my Lowepro backpack. The material on the back ends up stuffing up all my T-shirts. For such a good brand it’s a major oversight.

I have a few Lowepro camera bags, but my backpack of choice is made by Thinktank - worth a look if you're going to spend in this range.

    • Which model?

      • I've got the ThinkTank StreetWalker HardDrive (the original version - V2 was released recently). Very durable, holds a ton of gear, and is comfortable even fully loaded.

        • +1

          This guy loads.

    • What made you switch? I'm not looking at something this big, but need to replace my Lowepro Slingshot 100, but hate how obvious the Lowepro bags are.

      • I'd previously read reviews on the ThinkTank bags, then one day found someone selling a (barely) used Streetwalker Harddrive on eBay for $110. Grabbed that, and a short while later offloaded the couple of Lowpro bags I had. I still have a Lowepro shoulder bag I use from time to time.

There is no perfect camera backpack, a lesson I've learned after owning about 8-9 bags.
Curently I'm using a ThinkTank Airport Commuter, Lowepro Vertex 200, a small Lowepro shoulder bag and a Lowepro Tahoe… and then there's the Pelicases and Bunnings knock offs I own too.
There just isn't a perfect backpack, so you have to own several and choose the bag for the occasion.

      • Very true.

  • TIL sew 1" nylon strips on the back of a bag and you can double the price tag.

    • +1

Add 'Pro' into the model name for at least another 30%.

    Cheaper here. https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=S…

I assume these products are a case of same factory selling on the side. I've bought multiple Lowepro and Crumpler bags from aliexpress and they have lasted 5+ years now.

Recently got this one after loads of research. Fits my bill perfectly:
    https://www.thule.com/en-us/us/backpacks/camera-backpacks/th…

The camera compartment holds a Nikon D750 with battery grip and Tmaron 24-70 attached. On one side pocket I keep the Tmron 70-200 and the other Side pocket I keep the SB-700 and some batteries
The laptop compartment holds my 15" mbp along with a kindle snugly.
The top compartment holds the mavic pro and remote controller along with lens hoods and couple mavic batteries as well.

    Cons:
A bit too snug for the 70-200 on the side pocket when not attached to the body. A bit hard to get it out when the bag is in access mode in shoulder
Can't keep the hood attached to the lenses when in the camera compartment (might be manageable, didn't care too much)
Not a bag for TONS of gear. Just enough for a portrait or landscape trips.
No strap on the back to hook it into rollies handle

    Pros:
    Nice and comfortable material
    Ample coushoning and back suppport

    Just my two cents :)

    Level 3 backpack.

  • bullet proof vest
perfect timing. gonna go to US soon.

  • i had this, but then went to the 400AW flipside as is a bit more backpack looking and compact. Great for hiking but terrible for traveling as you cant fit anything normal in them. The fastback 250 will only hold a single DSLR with lens attached but the rest of it is like a normal backpack. The Protactic AWs really are for when you require all your gear, lenses, flashes etc.

    tl:dr
if you want to use for travel get the fastback.
if you need all your lenses and accessories but also do not need space for crap you buy from international markets get the protactic aw.

  • I bought this, but despite it being perfect on paper could not find a way to make it work with my kit. Found it was not very configurable, sent it back for a think tank. Moral: with this sort of purchase always good to buy from someone that will let you do that with no hassle :)
