    3D NAND SATA 2.5" SSD

Thanks, but I'll wait for the NOR SATA 2.5" SSDs to go on sale…

Any cheap 480gb or 500gb drives?

  • Silly question I'm sure….
but if replacing my laptop 1TB HDD which is 9.5mm, and this is 7mm, will I have issues with it moving too much ?
Is there a "generic" spacer for them?

    • Correct me if I am wrong but don't they screw into position and not just "fit" into a spot? i.e the size could still be 1 metre but because it is screwed in it still will stay in place no matter what because screws.

I have not played around with many laptop enclosures but I thought this was the case is it not.

  • Better to wait for Sandisk one or WD is equivalent?

    • WD Greens are probably the bottom of the tier-list when it comes to brand-name SSDs. Maybe Blues would be equivalent? Too lazy too look at the performance comparison right now

  • When you extrapolate the size to 1TB or even 2TB the price seems pretty legit.

    $55 x 4 (240GB) = $220 / 1TB (well minus 40gb)
    $55 x 8 (240GB) = $440 / 2TB (well minus 80gb)

Those are pretty good prices for SSD's just got to find the endurance rating i.e recommended max TBW (for 860 EVO 2TB it is around 700 for Crucial MX500 2TB it is about 360 for these 240gb drives it is 80TB so x 4 for 1TB gives 320TB and for 2TB x 8 gives 640TB)

So with these very quick observation they seem very good value per gb taking into account also the TBW (terabytes written)

  • These drives are awful
