Best Warranty for a Xbox One Elite Controller

I have decided I am going to get a Xbox One Elite controller. I did a lot of reading and it looks like they normally have a problem (analog stick drifting, loose bumper, rubber on the back coming off) within the 1st year. I play a lot so I'm expecting that to happen.

I want to be as covered as possible, so I'm thinking of buying it at EB Games which gives me 1 year warranty and I know it is pretty simple to make use of it. However, I also want to have warranty after the first year. Is there a company that would sell an extended warranty for my controller?

I have heard credit cards do but I don't own a credit card.

Any ideas?

  • You should get 2 years standard. At least that's what the guy in eb games told me and they have heen honouring that. I can't recall what the included warranty card said, but Australian consumer law should have you covered with a controller that expensive.

  • +1

I'd recommend EB Games. I went through 5 controllers in 4 months with only a few hours play time a week. At least half of them had defects out of the box, mostly stick drift. Every time EB Games just swapped it out no questions asked. When my second last one had its RB snap after warranty, they still replaced it.

It's a great controller, but build quality is terrible. No matter how careful you are, something probably will go wrong with it.

  • I went through JB Hi-Fi and they had no issues replacing my Xbox Elite Controller.

    • How long did they give you warranty for?

      • Wasn't sure. It was probably about a year when I went it to replace them and they offered without hesistation.

  • i've never had problems with my xbox one elite controller and it gets plenty of use.

    • Lucky you. If you have a good read online you find out that the big majority of users do encounter some problems within the first year of use.

  • These controllers are terrible.

I've never had a controller break on me. But my first one had the RB button break within 8 months. I replaced it under warranty. The second one's grip on the left side has started coming off. It it comes off any further I'm just going back to a regular controller.

  • I don't understand why people would spend $200 on a controller. I've got 2 Xboxes, (s and x) and I can't see the value in a $200 controller (can someone explain it to me, I haven't used one).

    • For me it was or the extra buttons and changeable bits and pieces.

      Mostly for the extra buttons.

    • Personally, I can't justify the $200 price tag cause I don't use my xbox much - like it would have been months since I last turned it on.

However, I have used an elite controller and they do feel very nice and premium. They feel a nice and weighted, have a nice textured grip, and the analogue sticks are buttery smooth (metal on metal contact to reduce friction and wear). The extra buttons and what not didnt phase me, but maybe if I actually owned one I would care a bit more to try and customize them to my needs.

I guess it's akin to buying a gaming keyboard or mouse.

If I was playing xbox every day I'd probably consider it, although $200 does still feel a bit steep.
