Great suggestion, unfortunately called 3 stores and no stock
You can usually nab a cheap one from a supermarket catalogue. Predictably crap, but that's what you get for the price.
For example, this week there's a Optus 3G X Play for $29.50 at Coles: https://www.coles.com.au/catalogues-and-specials/view-all-av…
512 MB RAM, no 4G, only the two Optus 3G bands (900/2100, so no 850 MHz). https://ausdroid.net/2017/09/09/optus-adds-x-play-prepaid-li…, https://www.optus.com.au/shop/prepaidmobile/optus/x-play, IMO you'd be lucky to be able to load a webpage on it.
Looks like it's currently available for the same price from Officeworks: https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/optus-x-pl…
1.1GB free space too… Definitely need to install apps to sd
I don't think that phone's really good for much more than phone calls or running a single app (maybe a 2FA authenticator?) :P
Even email would be a pain with that 320x240 screen.
Still remember getting those Alcatel cheap shit phones to get 3 months free Netflix.
God the phones were terrible 😂
I still have credit left on my Netflix account from that. Not even kidding.
$19

Get the Alcatel U5 if you can find a Target with stock left.
