is it worth upgrading a 3GB version GTX 1060 to this? I game in 1080 resolution.
well yes - if you will you sell your 1060 to me for $100 :p
Otherwise it is best to stick with 1060 for some more time until 2060 drops a little in price as 580 8GB adds about 10-20% more based on the game and not much more if I'm not wrong :)
Unless you can charge near-retail prices when you sell off the 1060, definitely no.

I highly recommend making do with your current card until you can upgrade to something more significant.
Any thoughts on trying to minimise depreciation possibly by selling at the right time, getting by with onboard graphics few weeks while waiting for the next gen to be released?
