  • Dave Warner is all over this

  • 10000 litres of clean air per minute

    OMG

  • Would reducing the amount of dust in the air also mean you wont have to dust shelves and objects in your room as often? Thus keeping your room cleaner for longer.

No, maybe a little but not enough to be worth it.

Unless you're suffering from allergies to pollen or something I think these are a bit or a waste.

The dust you're talking about not wanting to have to clean up is heavy and will settle on surfaces and in textiles.

These are probably excellent for people in countries where they have major issues with pollution, some studies I have seen used them in sealed apartments to improve air quality.

these will do what they say and pump a certain amount of air through the filter but they're not going to have enough suction or create enough turbulence to stir up and clean all the dust in a room or apartment.

And open doors and windows make them even less effetive.

The findings of my own personal jihad against dust, funk and vocs:

      Don't have carpet or pets.

      Wash bedding And vacuum weekly.

If you're in an urban area leave windows closed during morning and arvo traffic.

Wipe surfaces down with a damp cloth.

There is no magic bullet for dust.

I used to live right next to the freeway in a small apartment and had a noticeable improvement with one of these - if I ever moved to Asia these would make a pile of sense. However moved to a two story house and it's about as useful as a toothbrush made of ants now. I leave it in a high traffic area within the house since that's where the most dust would be kicked up in the place, at least it's doing something. Plus works as a placebo, I tell people what it is and they think the air smells cleaner in here (go figure).

But yeah, no difference with dust levels in the house in general. Completely useless when no one is home either as there's no dust moving around - thus sucking nothing out of the air. I noticed the biggest peak in PM2.5 when I vacuum - because pressing the vacuum cleaner against the carpet kicks up a whole lot of dust as well as sucking it up, the more I vacuum the less it happens.

Thank you for sharing that info, it's good to know other people have had similar experience.

  • Any asthmatics use this? The missus is havi g coughing fits recently due to asthma and the season change, wondering if this is worth and would reduce reaction when in the house

    • I own one and I feel like they help.
This DIY air filter works better. Which is a similar link to what @poxy001 provided earlier.

Just thinking about the question a little bit more… (Disclaimer: Not a doctor)
I knew someone how had trouble with the same thing. Turned out to be air conditioning drying the air to a point which would made her cough. Might be worthwhile investigating?

  • Have some cons here. I bought this few months ago, it works alright with smoke and dust in a small-medium size room. Although it does say powerful enough to use in bigger space but the machine will get very very loud if you turn it up high speed.

Keep that in mind, if you set a manual mode it will only run for 3 hours and automatically turn off. Google up some reviews before you buy :)

    • read this is the level of detail will blow your mind https://smartairfilters.com/en/blog/xiaomi-auto-mode-leaves-…

How do we get a big air into AU cheaply?

    • Manual mode only switches off after 3hours if running in the maximum possible setting, which none of us will realistically use anyway.

I wouldn't let the reviews that test this in 'Auto' mode discourage anyone. We all know the 'auto' mode is crap, but for the price, these Xiaomi purifiers are great. Having said that $200 is steep, I got my Mi Air purifier 2 for $120.

I have it set on manual mode around medium speed and have 2 automations set. (1) to turn in on favorite setting for 1h when pm2.5 is above 40 and (2) turn on favorite mode 2 hours before bedtime.

I got my Mi Air purifier 2 for $120.

        How $120 pls

  • anyone purchase and get it delivered? I got mine and it does not seem to connect to Mi home app?

    • works for mainland china profile setting only… FFS

These must not be intended for AU market… :(
