Hi all,
Looking for a new affordable/budget car I can fit my surfboard (shortboard) in.
Does the rear seat fold down completely in all Camrys?
Is it just a ski port or will I be able to get my surfboard through the hole?
Thanks!

Thanks for your reply, Ive had racks before and I much prefer to throw the boards in the car, don't have to worry about straps and board damage or wind noise.
Definitely could inspect, but after a quick answer before I begin my search through the classifieds for the perfect budget car.
Presumably you’ll still check the actual car you’re buying by bringing your surfboard with you and seeing if it fits?
Right??
I assume it saves OP the trouble by ruling in or out certain models.
Yep this, I'm a very mechanical person (I do all my own work) and a true bargain hunter.
So I'm shortlisting models that will work for me, then I will go hunting.
Roof racks, perhaps??
Or, being a surfer, how about some hooks to mount it on the side?
Too loud on highway and slow to attach, much prefer to throw the boards in the car.
Those side racks are certainly interesting! :p
Illegal to have things hanging out further than your wheel well (aside from mirrors)
Pretty sure they do at 60/40 split.
Camry seats do fold down, the gap in my 2011 camry is smaller than my 99 camry, but could still easily fit the width of a surf board.
Thanks for answering
I have a 2005 Camry, you should be fine to fit a surfboard through the gap to the boot. If you can let me know the size of your board, I can confirm this.
Thanks so much for the offer to measure, I really appreciate it. I'm confident that it will fit from yours and other people's comments. :)
My parents have a 2005 Camry and the seats do fold down, but not too sure how big the hole is. You could easily inspect a car and ask if you can fold the seats down - most people won't say no :) A lot of sedans and hatchbacks can get roof racks though, and that might be safer for transporting a surfboard.
