Advice on heat pump

Hi folks,

I'm considering the govt backed heat pump offer & I need your advice.
I currently have a chromagen solar hot water unit about 2.5ys old & from day 1 has been giving me headaches. Although it's very economical to run when it works it needs constant maintenance.
I want to dump it for a heat pump & I was wondering if it would be as economical as solar ? With solar electricity.

        up to $1000 rebate for solar hot water system, but I think it means nothing for a heatpump system. He better off getting solar panel and running electric HWS through it if the roof has enough space
