Website still has it for $12.98. So my guess is someone ordered too much stock

    • The strange thing is, I have 2 of these, bought maybe 8 weeks ago…. I don't have the receipts for it, but I'm reasonably certain they were selling for just $10. I think the one marked at $13-14 (at that time) was a 2400w version.

    • Able to get one showing this add at Rockdale!!

Nice try. Joined just to make this comment?

  • it's $12.98 on their website

    are you sure it's nationwide?
I would get a few if it is $3 each

I can confirm, a whole pallet of heaters, $3 each. The sales assistant was advertising it as "a great christmas present for a friend if you want to increase their electric bill!"

    • Yup was thinking that. 40c an hour.

      • Where are you to be paying 20c per kWh?

        • might depend on time of day
my offpeak and shoulder rates are 20c/kWh or less

        • Anything with a 30% pay on time usage, would be around 20c surely?

        • @smpantsonfire:

Anything with a 30% pay on time usage, would be around 20c surely?

not for peak TOU metering though, which is likely the prime time a short term heater would be used ;)

      • $1.12/hr in Adelaide.

        • You pay 56 cents per kWh in Adelaide?

        • @spaceflight: I was off a little - prior to July, Energy Australia were raping people at 55.3/c kwh (inc gst, inc supply & b4 discounts). Wind isn't cheap you know!

  • None Caroline Springs Vic

  • Called my local store in Vic, not on sale, still about $13

  • Excellent find OP but I doubt it will be this price everywhere.

  • +2

Excellent, you pay one days operating cost.

    • True, I went without heaters this winter, after causing massive electric bills of over $1,000 for 1 person, in previous years .
If I had something like this though, I would just restrict use to very short periods of time, when Im really feeling the cold.

Excess stock from the cancelled Abbott/Dutton Paris Agreement withdrawal celebrations

  • Maybe worth a trip to Gosford. Thanks OP :D

  • Does the $2.6 Sunday fare cover gosford?

    • It should do … I know pensioner excursion concession ticket took me to Gosford many times (from illawarra area)

    • I think so

    • Should cover all the way to Newcastle.

    • Can confirm it does - done it myself

  • +3

They are $4 each at the Tuggerah store

      Rip-off.

      • +1

        Yes. 33% overpriced.

    • Thanks, I'll go there instead!

      • Username does NOT check out!

        • +2

Well technically it does: Costs to get there (either by public transport or car) are at least $1 less going to Tuggerah rather than Gosford!

        • +3

@pennypincher98: For a moment there I was concerned about you.

  • +2

at full power, during peak period, your electricity costs will be more than the unit in ~4 hours ;)

    • +1

True, but for a small room like my home office these are excellent. I switch mine on for about 5 minutes per hour in the Winter.

      • You need an oil column heater. Same principle (5 min per hour) but holds the heat and releases slower.

        • Unlike oil column heaters, this heats a small room almost instantly.

        • I want the heat instantly, not charged up expensively in the oil column

Is charging a phone via USB charger or through a powerbank connected to the mains cheaper?
Same concept but electricity rather than heat being stored (and released)

        • My oil column heater heats a small room very quickly…

        • +2

An oil heater and fan heater both cost the same to heat the same room so there is no need to replace one with the other.

HeaterMate suggested above like like a good option to add a thermostat to these heaters.

    Great for people with solar.

    • Does your solar panels work at night? (when it is the coldest or at least for me)

      • +1

That's when you use a blanket

$2 an hour in elecricity lol

    • +6

      You pay $1 per kwh?

      • maybe he has two on for twice the power

    • @broden Shouldn't you be purchasing all of these and selling for profit?

Would anyone like to guess how many units are on this pallet?

      • 150 to a pallet

        • 150 to a pallet

Nope. 120. Anything more exceeds safety recommendations

  • nice

      • Too nice.

        Get it? Get itttt?????

cant beat pissing in a hot water bottle in the morning

      water for the day, solved….

    • +1

I find it's cold by bed time

  • I find these sorts of heaters tend to not last very long. If you leave it running for say half an hour, it will suddenly go "piak", and will die forever.

    • I have never had one die and the ones I have are 10 or so years old.

Confirm SA has extra 75% off all electric heaters making the price in the ball park. Picked up a 7 fin oil heater for $8 (was $50 down to $32)

  • still $13 online :(

  • these are pretty quiet compared to fan heaters from the reject shop, but these dont have cycle mode like the latter.

  • I have these, they are quite alright, lasted 3 winters so far. There's a little trip switch at the bottom that turns off the unit if it's tip over. Kinda sensitive so you might want to put it on a flat level not some rug or something. It's suitable for small room such as a bathroom where you need a quick blast during early morning showers, I really doubt it is 2000W. I would call these 'personal' heaters as you would use it really close range when you are freezing.

I use it in all my bathrooms and my little shed awesome little heaters that stows away easily during other seasons. I thought they were junk(I still think they are cheaply built) but they lasted my abuse so they are highly recommended.
