  I use e-gift card in Woolies or Coles to get Opal card top up. It saves 5%. Auto topup is 0% saving so both aren’t the same though I agree that auto is more convenient. I don’t mind going to store once a month if it means that I save $10 per month for a small effort. If someone has more members in family using Opal everyday, then they should make use of this.

  They don't take Amex and I get more points if I go and top up at Coles and Woolies over say, the newsagency
