  • These are so good

    • I used to think that but when you consider the cost they aren't really. Between me and my wife we've gone through 4 of them in about 5 years. We're switching to Xiaomi next. I'm sick of Philips ripping me off.

      • What are doing dropping them? We still use a 6 yr oral b and still faultless between me and missus. Been think of changing but sounds like not reliable

        • Mine doesn’t perform that well anymore, but I opened it up and tightened the screws, it worked but I doubt for very long.

      • How? Whats happened to your 4 of them?

I haven't had any issues with mine yet

      • You know they sell replacement brushes right?
You don't need to buy a whole new toothbrush…

  • This or the Oral B 9000? Seems like it’s also a good price after similar discounts, although it’s close to that price generally on Amazon AU.

    • My dentist said Philips is better - the nature of movements is more natural, more intense but less damaging.
I switched from OralB following his advice. And I liked Philips better.

Neither Oralb nor Philips lasts more than a year and a half for me. :(

      • +1

What are you doing with them?

        • And brushing teeth too.

      • Gonna give it a go. Online views go back and forth but I do like the design when I've seen it in person. The longer battery life, 120-240 mains and slimmer build are both appealing. More exy heads and less variety are probably my main strikes against it going in. Also prefer that the Philips case can be charge the brush over USB over the inclusion of a USB output on the Oral B (I doub't I'd use that). Worse case I return it within 90 days and Amazons had the Oral-B 9000 listed at $179 for months now so I'll grab it later…this models far less readily available at this price ($439 is a crazy RRP).

      • I've had both and the Phillips is way better. Li-Ion battery (maybe OralB has them too now). Just feels built better. Much less crude movement. Heads last for quite a while so their high price is not such a big deal. Mine has been going for 4 years.

If you're tempted to get their Airfloss as well - don't. Tried that too (and the Waterpik). It's hopeless. Waterpik is much better, except the hose breaks (I got a few years out of it though). Maybe if you don't stretch the hose very much you'd get longer life from it.

        • -1

Waterpik has a portable model without a hose, that should last a while.

        • Doubt if the portable unit has anywhere near the power of the normal unit, its unlikely its nearly as good.

        • @BradleyDS2:
Portable lasts about a year. So many points of failure I’m tired of fixing it

        • -1

@srr: Damn, that sucks. I've had mine for several years and no complaints here.

        • @BradleyDS2:

Yep, so first it collected shitload of mould inside, so I disassembled and cleaned. Then after some time it started lasting about two times after charging. I replaced the batteries, but didn’t help. Then I figured out it’s not batteries but lubrication (could be the result of my cleaning), so I lubricated the plastic gears. It helped, but a bit too much and the new slick and powerful motion busted the membrane in the inlet valve. So I disassembled valves and took membrane out of the other valve. Works fine now, waiting for the next issue :)

        • @srr: You have to clean it after each use.

Remove the head after brushing. Clean and dry both the head and the brush (if dirty). As long as you do this every time, gunk won't build up.

        • @lostn: are we talking about the same thing? I was talking about portable Waterpik. You have to remove the water tank and then unscrew a few screws there to open the case and clean all the gunk inside.

  • I’ve used both, from sonicare to Oral-B, and just brought this to go back to sonicare. Personally I prefer Sonicare much more, better build quality (premium feel) oral b feels like cheaper plastic, better battery, and the normal shaped brush heads feels more natural

    • 100% agree with every statement - switched from OralB.

  • great deal, i purchased then i realised i forgot my 10x flybuys deal :\

  • But does it come in black?

    • Yes, and a few other colours. They’re about $150 more though for some reason currently (weren't discounted as heavily).

  • Xiaomi Soocare X3 from AliExpress from their sale starting in two days for about $54. It's a great toothbrush. As is the Oclean One, which is a bit more expensive.

  • Had the Phillips diamond clean die twice in a year and switched to Oral B once Phillips refused to replace my brush. So far Oral B has held up well >1 year although I have to admit the Phillips felt more premium. End of the day, whatever gets the job done tbh as with all mechanical brushing, its how you brush.

  • Entered the code PARENT, got: This code can't be applied to your order.

  • Personalized in-app coaching to perfect brushing. Tracks where you've brushed, highlights where you haven't. Takes you back to any missed spots for 100% coverage. Start taking better care of your trouble areas. Alerts you if you're pressing too hard.

Sounds perfect.. for a 4 year old. Only $180, or get an oral-b for $20.

    • sonicare action is completely different from oral-b. And the $20 oral-b units are complete garbage, you need to spend about $100 to get a good one.

    • You’re comparing the very top end model to a base one. You can get cheaper Philips also.

  • How much improvement with this over $20 ones often on sale at Coles?

    • The $20 ones are the oral B round spinning ones. Different type.

They don't sell Sonic ones (oscillating) at Coles to my knowledge. And if they did, they wouldn't be $20.

Whether they're better or not, people have mixed opinions about.

The Oral B are definitely better value. You might get 80% of the results for 11% of the price. But I prefer these.

I made up the 80%. The results won't be too far dissimilar though.

  • Just a word of warning. I had a Smart philips toothbrush, but not this one. The app is garbage.

It has trouble connecting to the brush most of the time and it sometimes took many attempts. After another update, it couldn't connect at all.

It also has difficulty recognizing my brushes sometimes. I am brushing that part, but it doesn't think I am so at the end I have to touch up.

I stopped using the app now. I know which parts I've brushed anyway.

    • Why do you need an app? Just brush your teeth!

      • It's meant to track your habits and give you feedback on your brushing, whether you are brushing too hard, scrubbing too much, not doing enough in some spots, tells you when to move on to the next spot. Keeps track of how long you've used your head and when it's time to change (based on time elapsed). You tell it what your goals are, and it helps you achieve them.

In all honesty, its sensors are not that accurate and you don't really need the app. The brush will give you an audible sound when you brush too hard anyway. Everything it can inform you, you can learn in one week and then never need the app again.

  • May I please ask a dumb question?
Have anyone who bought this toothbrush on eBay received invoice from the shavers shop?
I purchased it on eBay but I did not get an official tax invoice from them. I think the 50 dollars cash back will not be made without them.

    Thanks so much

    • have you tried asking for the tax invoice? i was under the assumption they'll include it in the delivery

    • Shaver shop Ebay rep replied they will include a receipt together with the goods, which then can be used to lodge the cash back.

  • Thanks!! Been eyeing on it for awhile..

  • theres no way to submit your cashback claim form online, so they force you to send it in via post and pay $1 postage fees

  • No idea about the smart features …..but my phillips sonicare diamond clean was an excellent purchase. Very clean teeth, ideal for sensitive teeth. My unit has never broken down in 3 years. Replacement brush heads are next to nothing on ebay.

Its a big overlay for a toothbrush but if youre willing to splurge i know my teeth never felt so clean.
