I don't think there is a published answer from this. It is kind of a guess-the-amount-of-jelly-beans-in-the-jar competition.

I got it too, I don't think there is anyway to know the exact amount apart from being an employee of Playstation and having access to the numbers stored in whatever database they're housed in. There are websites that track the amount of platinums earned but as far as I know they are only tracking the users signed up to the website not to players worldwide.
No-one does - hence the tiebreaker
It's a trick question, you haven't really earned the trophy, only a license to use it #sarcasm
Guessed 7 mil, not much idea
523 million PS4 units sold… I think you are off by one zero
Thanks gnv :)
I looked up total software sales for 2017 http://www.vgchartz.com/yearly/2017/Global/
Around 143M then a percentage of 5-10% off thatAccording to this page, 4% of the PlayStation gamers have earned the honor of a platinum trophy. As the question is 2017, we'd have to work out how many gamers in 2017, then 4% of that, then give or take = answer?
So, 4% of 143,000,000 = 5,720,000.
But, 143M is software sales, not the people who have actually played it, and then able to get a platinum trophy.
That sounds a lot.
Sorry, just trying to throw a spanner in the works. :-)
When they ask how many gamers in 2017, I presumed that it meant all games (that hand out platinum trophies) being played that were sold up until 2017, not just those sold in 2017. As they started the trophy scheme back in 2008, that could be a lot more handed out than 4% of game sales in 2017.
This is a real doozy of a question and no real facts to work off - just out of the blue guesswork.
Good luck to one and all with this. And I must not forget to thank GNV9 for the giveaway and 5 answers and to those above in trying to help.
It's not all games, just like it's not software sales either…
How many Platinum Trophies were earned worldwide across all PlayStation 4 games in 2017?
It is only asking how many Platinum trophies were earned on ps4 (only) games, during the year 2017.
The game didn't need to be made or sold in 2017,just played and platinum level trophies earned during that year (on only ps4).
I personally think it's a much smaller number than what people are guessing.
Thanks for providing the 5 answers gnv9!
So how many times can you enter, if I use a different tiebreaker answer each time — would 5,000,000 be unreasonable ?
:-)Keeps saying the email address field is required, despite repeatedly entering correct ones.
I think the number is quite huge because its quite easy to get the bronze throphies
I’ve never got a platinum trophy, but I’ve never tried specificially for one.
Its how many Platinum trophies, not trophies in total.
OP please add that u18's are unable to enter the giveaway. :) I just failed to enter so I'm assuming this must be the case.
Did anyone get this tiebreaker: How many Platinum Trophies were earned worldwide across all PlayStation 4 games in 2017? I don't know :(
