Brita MAXTRA+ Filter 12 Pack $99 Delivered @ Brita

220

Yes yes, Australian water is fine to drink. That doesn't change the fact that depending on what tap you're drinking it out of, the taste varies.

Haven't seen any of these advertised cheaply lately, so at $8.25 each, while not the cheapest they've ever been, it is pretty good.

However… I did also get a popup saying that if you signed up to their newsletter, you got 20% off your first order. Which brings it down to $79.80 at $6.65 each. Now that is a bargain! But unfortunately that is below their minimum $80 free shipping value, so you'll either have to buy something else, or just pony up the 99.

The limescale ones are at $109 for a 12 pack though. And they reckon that's saving $77 on those too, so that seems like a good thing if you take 20% off that ($87.20/$7.27 each before anyone asks). https://store.brita.com.au/filterscartidges/e00128-maxtra-pl…

  • Can be had for $81 with 5% off coupon. I'm not sure if the 10% tax would apply to this though. If it does, it may not be the best option

The cheapest item can find on Brita's site is [this] for $7.50. 20% off that total would bring it down to $85.2

Looks like the limescale version has sold out?

  • Better off getting the Groupon deals when groupon has an extra 10-15% off - these come quite regularly and are either 3 filters (plus a jug and water bottle) for about $22 or 4 filters (plus a jug) for about $32 - you will get approximately the same cost per filter and free spare jugs.

    • shipping are too expensive!!!

      • Buy five sets at the same time. You're spending a similar amount in total on this deal.

aren't exactly the same though. These look like new Maxtra+ filters which are the 2nd generation.

      • Good point - I hadn't noticed.

      • What's the diff between the two filter types?

  • +3

20% first online order voucher code works though announced 'Cannot be used in conjunction with other e-shop offers'
A jug may be cost-efficient and useful. So added a 3.5XL white jug containing one filter to satisfy 'Free shipping for orders over $80.00'- totally $108.8 for 13 filters
Or you can add the 'Style Jug Grey & Maxtra Plus Filter 3pk'$59 ($47.2 after discount)- totally $126 for 16 filters
Excluding the jug, each maxtra filter ranges from $6.4 to $6.8, depending the jug values around $22

If not interested in jug, maybe a combination of 'Fun Jug Lime & Vital Lime Bottle'($15.2 after discount but maybe without any filters) is more cost-efficient to some Ozbargainers.

    Thanks OP

  • Will this fit the old jug?

  • Compatible with all BRITA jugs (Classic range excluded)

Which is the classic range? Mine is Marella and Naevia.

    • Looks like both of those jugs come with a MAXTRA+ filter on the website, so should be good. I think the classic range is the old ones with the round filters?

      • Hmm. I was pretty sure they weren't Maxtra+. I thought + was new.

But I got them like a year and a half ago, and I think that was before Maxtra+ existed. So maybe the new editions now come with +. In that case, they should be compatible. I just wanted to make sure, and it's kind of disappointing that their own official site doesn't give you explicit info on that.

        • Yeah, pretty sure the + replaced the regular version in most cases. I was going by https://store.brita.com.au/jugs/marella2-4l-marella-jug-24l that said that it came with a + filter. So unless they've changed the design of the jug too, you should be right (famous last words).

        • @MonkDog:

I'm going to take the risk and buy the Limescale ones.

Seems like a good deal for only $10 extra. I do balk at spending $109 on filters just to drink tap water, but it is 2 years worth of filters.

I'm used to paying $35 to get a jug and 4 filters but that's not the most environmentally friendly thing to do since I only wanted the filters and the jug was a freebie.

This is around the same price per filter if you are throwing away the jug. I give the jugs away but the recipients don't buy filters so they are only getting a few weeks of use out of them.

EDIT: Wait, what? Says these filters are good for 4 weeks or 150L. I never count the liters, but I'm pretty sure my filters were good for 8 weeks. Is the halving of the lifespan the price of better filtration? This is only going to be 1 year's supply not 2.

For optimum results, we recommend replacing your MAXTRA+ filter every 150L or 4 weeks based on average household size drinking 8 glasses per day

I've been going by the indicator which is simply programmed to go empty after 8 weeks I think. I did not know the time is based on 8 glasses a day. Since I'm the only one drinking it, if I drink less than 8 glasses a day, which is crazy for one person (half of my water in take is while I'm at work, so let's say I'm getting 4 cups a day at home with the filter?), maybe the filters could have been used longer instead of just throwing them out after 8 weeks? Then again, I do taste the difference after a filter is replaced, so maybe it was due anyway. I should have maybe gone for a more expensive jug that analyzes the filter's remaining capacity instead of being a simple timer.

If I'm only drinking 4 cups a day at home, do you think I can stretch a filter to 8 weeks, or does it degrade over time also?

  • Anyone know if there is expiry date on the filter ? Might want to get 2x12 pack to make it cheaper ?

    • Don't think so, and that's exactly what I did…

      • Thanks for confirming.

  • I'm using standard Maxtra filters, and I do get black flecks inside my cup. It looks like someone has sprinkled black pepper into my cup. Luckily they sink to the bottom after a while so you can still safely drink it and just throw away the remaining water when it gets low.

Does anyone know if the MAxtra+ or Limescale ones still have the black flecks problem?

Does anyone know which jugs have advanced indicator meters, and not simple ones that are based on when you last reset it? Brita website is hopeless at providing info.

  • Wow. I was only going to buy the 12 Limescale filters (after 20% off, still comes out over $80 for free shipping) but then looked at on sale items and ended up getting a bunch more stuff! I got 2 jugs and 2 bottles along with 3 bonus disc (4 disc filters) filters with the sports bottle. One of the jugs is $59 which includes a total of 4 Maxtra+ filters. One was a $19 bottle and jug combo. The jug is only small at 1.5L and going to be useless, but it was a big discount, so may as well. I actually only wanted to buy disc filters, but ended up getting a bottle plus the 4 disc filters for $25 (undiscounted). A 3 pack of disc filters alone is $17. So one bottle plus a filter is $8, which is not bad.

Spent $169 in total. On water from the tap. :/

Probably cheaper to drink Evian next time I go on holidays, and no need to pack since I can buy it at the destination. But it was a good price, so eh.

I just bought them. Used the 20% off newsletter code to bring it down to $79.20 + $10.xx shipping = $89.xx.

I added another single filter for $15. This put it over the $80 shipping and was able to use the 20% off to bring it down to $91.20 total for 13 filters.
