Comfiest Headphones for Long Periods Bonus Points if Wireless or Can Be Used in Bed

So I bought some Sales headset for pc gaming and they hurt my head looking to upgrade to something super comfy.

Wired is ok but wireless would be nice.

Open to any sort of in ear or over ear solution like the taotronics just mainly looking for something that is very comfortable and possibly able to use in bed i.e soft but still sturdy.. No idea if this exists

Have tried some dj ultrasone and sennheiser HD 471i among others.. Everybody says the hyper cloud alpha 2's are the best for quality and comfort

Mainly asking users with first hand experience or those that have found a lot of heavy praise for a headphones comfort level.

Bonus points for wireless

More bonus points if optional wired or wireless

Even more bonus points if it has a mic or is a suitable candidate to use sleeping in bed.. Or should I just stick to earbuds and some Bluetooth taotronics

Also why is the Bose QC 35 so popular what is their appeal or selling factor compared to other headphones?

    QC35s;

Because they're comfy with very nice audio and excellent call quality : D

    • I assume they can be used as a pc mic also?

How are they charged and what is average battery life.

If they can be used lying down in bed I might trade my wired HD 471 sennys and I forgot the model number dj ultrasones and $25 sades plastic gaming headset all for one QC 35.

Free up some space and get something I really want and need.

I was considering some beanie ear buds for bed use for watching some movies also maybe I dunno.

      • Yes can be used on PC
2 Days if using all day
If you lay on back yes can be used in bed

        • How does it charge? Micro USB?

        • @AlienC:

yep, micro USB.. but i found they last ages

    • I've never paired them with a PC (or other video) before - how do they do in terms of audio lag?

        Not bad @ all;
        Casual gaming - is fine
        Comp - not ideal
Youtube etc - no latency that i noticed

Oh nice. Thanks for the feedback. My wired earphones for the computer are slowly going, this'll save me buying a replacement.

  • I love my Bose qc25 they are very comfortable and ive used them lots of times 12+ hours on my PC watching, movies, gaming, music.

  • why is the Bose QC 35 so popular what is their appeal or selling factor compared to other headphones

Not speaking from personal experience but supposedly the noise cancelling is the best. Other noise cancelling headphones have better sound quality.

    • What if you just listen at low volume I don't need super noise canceling just super comfy, maybe long battery life and a mic.

Something I can use almost anywhere but preferably at home where it is usually very quiet and I like having a bit of noise leakage at home in case housemates knock or call through the house.

I know for public transport or is probably really good but honestly what is a cheaper option but same or better comfort level and wireless than the qc's.

  • I have a set of QC25 and they are indeed the most comfortable headphones I've owned. It's light, the padding is super soft, and the sound quality is decent. What it (moreso for the QC35) does better than a lot of other stuff on the market is that it is good for most applications. The noise cancelling and comfort is top tier, the battery life is good, the sound quality is OK, it's portable and it folds away easily. If you want a daily mule, you can't really go wrong with it.

I currently use an Audio Technica 900x with Mod Mic 4.0 mic attached and while the combo is superb, it's annoying with a cord and the cans are on the heavier side. For my money, I would try to go for a set of QC35 for less than $300 with the expectation that sound quality will be OK, but everything else is great.

If you don't mind being an apple fanboi, AirPods are seriously the comfiest and most practical that I've used.
I use them in bed all the time, even lying on your side, they don't cause any discomfort as they don't stick out at all.

    • Hmm might have to seriously give them a look.. how much can they usually on sale be had.. will probably gumtree it but want to know

also any notable competitors? I don't mind having to charge them every now and then if the savings are immense as I know Apple products in general are well overpriced.

    • They hurt my ears after 15-20 min

  • If you’re using for PC gaming a surround sound headset might be handy if it’s important to know from what direction in game sounds are coming from.

I’ve got a few sets of headphones
    Audio Technica m50
    Bose qc35
    AirPods

In terms of being able to listen to for a few hours with zero discomfort the AirPods are most comfortable.

I used to use a turtle beach px4 headset (sold it with the ps4) that was super comfortable fine for use for hours on end and handy for fps.

QC35 and M50 are both over ear headphones, I find I do notice them a bit after an hour or so and need a short break for comfort. Both sound great imo.

    • Surround is beneficial but I have heard that 2.1 vs say 5.1 or 7.1 is very gimmicky in that the direction of sounds does not really happen comparing all variety and versions of surround please correct me if I am wrong.

Leaning to some AirPods atm how good are they at staying in the ears if you tend to fidget with them a lot.. I have problems keeping my glasses sometimes on my face and earbuds have always had the same problems at times.. the thought of dropping them while getting on or off the train is mind scaring.

      • Depends what you’re mainly using them for - AirPods won’t cut it for any kind of proper gaming experience. If the headset supports Dolby surround you actually can tell where in game sound is coming from.

AirPods sound amazing for their size but they can’t match the sound quality or noise cancellation of qc35.

I guess it depends on your ears but I find they don’t just fall out. I wear them while skipping rope for 10 mins no problems and doing weights.

        • Hmm damn I guess I will need to keep on searching.

Looking for my all in one headset or ear bud solution.. wireless is a bonus but honestly if it has options for both it would be perfect which the AirPods definitely don't.

OP, just note the Bose QC25 or QC35 do NOT have a mic. They're headphones only.

    • Thanks for this was beginning to wonder if they had one or not.

This rules out the QC's sadly then.

    • erm… I'm pretty sure my QC35 (series 2) has a mic in it? Have made a few phone calls on it myself.
OP - have used it for 6-8 hours on plane flights and very comfortable. Haven't tried sleeping in bed with it though, I don't think it'd be comfortable for that!

      • QC35 series 1 also definitely have built in mic.

      • Right now tossing up between the QC 35 Series 1 or 2 or some Hyper Clouds with detachable mic and wired/wireless ability.. can the QC 35's use wired mode?

    • Wrong. Check again.

  • Comfiest huh? Not the way to form the superlative for comfortable but given that comfy is already informal most people will understand.

    • Enlighten me master greenpossum.

      • Since you would say most comfortable and not comfortablest, by extension it should be most comfy. But as I said, comfy is informal already so not a grating usage.

One that I remember was someone using the word comfortability.

        • Ah I get ya yes most compelling be a better fit and better use of the English language grammatically in this use case scenario.

Comfiest just sounded cute. So I used it.

  • I’m listening to my qc35’s while studying right now. Only one option in my opinion
