How good is the singleplayer on this?
I've been looking for some singleplayer rpgs recently (cuz my internet sucks donkey dick) and was wondering if this would be worth it?

    • Watch play throughs on YouTube. Looks overly complicated and grindy to me

I've been playing solo primarily for the past few days due to the servers being trash (they released a multiplayer patch today that seems to fix most issues tho) and I have to say I'm loving it. For some, it does get repetitive and grindy since most the time all you do is the same thing in a few maps but to me the progression feels nice and the combat is absolutely great.

If you want a less grindy and a more story rich RPG, I suggest Capcoms other title Dragon's Dogma. Combat and visuals are very similar and has nice replayability.

      • I would like something story rich. I've been trying to find a replacement game for The Witcher 3 but just can't find anything that appeals in the same way :(

        • How important are state of the art graphics to you?

        • @Lysander: I don't need state of the art like Witcher 3 again but I also don't want something that looks like Doom 1. I think something that looks like base Skyrim or better would be good as Skyrim had good graphics but nothing extremely special unless modded. I'd just play skyrim again but I don't have money to buy special edition (it's still too much for just an overhaul) and I don't want to play vanilla so that's out of question.

I would HIGHLY prefer something recent though if that was your question. I imagine I'm younger than 90% of the users on this site so the nostalgia factor does not apply to me when playing older games which is the main issue.

Was looking at monster hunter but for the price it seems like a mess that I don't want to bother with right now. Saw Dragon Age Inquisition but it's on origin not steam which makes me wanna vomit

Well, that makes it very difficult. Reading the above the picture of a hungry man who despite being hungry says that he will only eat branded organic food and instead of compromising as he is hungry rather starves came to mind.

I think you should have a look at the Gothic Franchise, maybe Dungeons Siege games, maybe Spellforce 1+2 games. These are all older games but still great in terms of gameplay, story, and experience and they are cheap.

Rage, Enslaved, Darksiders 1+2, Sudeki are other games you should have a look at. Again, older but fun and cheap.

Venetica Gold Edition is another great game - Gold edition is $10.

Hope that helps you, especially since the weekend is coming up.

        • @Lysander: From your first suggestions I've only heard of gothic so I'll check them out. I know rage uses iD Tech 5 and there's no way I'm ever gonna touch a game using that engine again after Wolfenstein ran like a turd on my RX480 (and then of course Wolfenstein 2 TNC ran three times better with every setting maxed out)
Darksiders 1 and 2 are on sale for 5 bucks so I might check them out.
I was hoping for something newer though, it seems like nowadays no good RPGs have come out except ones I've already heard of.

        • @Lolno234:

Look at Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 as well. Great games.

Also the Risen Series (1-3) and Sacred 1+2.
Fable might be another thing to look at.
          And Titan Quest.

Mad Max might also be interesting for you. Lords of the Fallen is another option.

If you play only a third of the games I mentioned you will be busy for several months to complete them. ;-)

        • @Lolno234:

          Other games you might like:

          Two Worlds II
          Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning
          Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
          Divinity II
          Bound by Flame

You're going to struggle with end game high rank monsters. Specially with the new monsters that just been released. You pretty much need a team of 3 or 4.

    amazing game

  • Love this game, heads up console players can't transfer their data to PC. I wanted to play on PC but meh…… oh well, i'll stick to PS4

    • +1

I've read the reviews on PC and they aren't pretty so it's good you sticked to ps4.

  • Damnit, I bought it the other day with that same code and paid $68.13 AUD

Great game though. I've got a PS4 and Xbox One, but have been waiting for a good deal at EB Games to trade them in for either a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X (I've got an unused EB gift card), and have been holding out on getting this until I did that.

I finally gave in and bought it a few days ago. Looks and runs great on my GTX1060 on high graphics across the board. Only played solo so far because the internet is awful here, it's challenging but doable, at least at this stage. I'm not usually a fan of this type of game, but I fell in love from the moment I met my Palico.

  • Awesome looking game but like most other games I can wait.. no rush for me.. I will taste it when it becomes bargain binnable.
