Your Kindle may use wireless connectivity to make other services available, such as wireless delivery of personal documents, which may require an additional charge.

    Is this the newest generation?

Also, can it be jailbroken so I can also use 3G for light web usage?

I just don't see paying for 3G to be worth it. If I really, really needed to buy and read a book when I'm away from wifi I can just use my phone's hotspot. I've had a kindle for years and have only done it once.

    • haha beaten me to it

    • It has other features like the dictionary which is great when you aren't at home, depends on what you are reading.

      • You can download dictionaries to the Kindle for use when off Wi-Fi.

to be honest I see little added value of 3g in a kindle. it will be a once in a lifetime event when you need that book right here and right now, and even if you somehow get into this situation, you can have your phone act as a wi-fi hotspot - for free.

    • Free phone service?

      • I mean, "without paying a single dollar over what you have already paid"
so, get Paperwhite WiFi, and put the saved money elsewhere.

I have had my Kindle Paperwhite for probably four years now (I think), and it's still going strong. I don't have the 3G because as others have said, there's not much point. It really is a great product, and I hope it will last a few more years. I have an older non-backlit Kindle that's even older, about six years, and that actually still works too, though I don't use it anymore. These things are worth the money.
