Yamaha YHT-1840B 5.1 Channel Home Theatre System $495 @ Harvey Norman

64

I saw this on Harvey Norman, reminded me when I bought my RX-V373 for about $300, this seems to be a decent price including a sub and 5 speakers, since active subs start at around $150.

I have had thoroughly great experience with my Yamaha, expect this to be broadly the same

this seems to be a decent price

Cheaper at Videopro, Bing Lee, Betta Electrical, even some place called Exeltek.

Besides TGG who have it listed at the RRP this is more expensive than anywhere else.
Did you not check before posting?

  • This product is part of there so called EPIC audio SALE. Have to laugh at there sale prices. Most of there so called discounted products can be had cheaper elsewhere.

An epic sale for the wrong reasons.

$469 at Bing Lee no deal

Any decent units under $500 with wireless rear speakers someone who knows a bit about this stuff can recommend?

    • +2

Better off starting with one of these.
The AVR/amp is OK and the speakers can be upgraded over time.

If you go for wireless rear speakers, you will finish up with overpriced HTIB junk that will eventually be thrown out.

      • Cheers mate :)

      • How does this setup compare the the Bose sound bar 300? The Bose bar is more expensive, and I can add more speakers later, but sound quality wise?

        • +1

I've owned both, Bose SoundTouch 300 blows this out of the water, however it would be worth getting the Bose sub as well, which is again more $$. So this is probably better value if you don't want to be $2k out of pocket.

        • @Kaboom214:

          thanks
so for a start I could get this to experience a world of different sounds!
          or
I could also start with the soundbar
then gradually as $ permits upgrade to those woofy things

        • @docians:

Bose may not good for music

  • Please remove this its clearly not the cheapest available

  • If anyone is interested refurbs (comes with 12 month warranty) available from Grays for $319 using the code PARENT (till Aug 30).

          Well played! :)

  • OP should maybe add one of the cheaper deals instead.
