    • Could you please share the T&C page for this promo?

I just bought stuff a few days ago and didn't get anything like this.

        T&Cs

I’m not entirely sure when the promo started, but I made purchases on 9/8 and 17/8 (on different accounts) and both times automatically received the code.

Thanks! Sent an e-mail to ask.

        • They replied, turns out this promo started on 20, while my purchase was on 18th, so it wasn't eligible :(

Also, your "items from $1.80 delivered" isn't available anymore, don't suppose you could share how to find such deals?

        • +1

@xrailgun: That’s odd, when I posted this deal on the 18th there was already a banner on the homepage advertising the offer.

That promo has finished, also they’ve been sneaky and added shipping charges to the cheaper items. I think the cheapest thing you can currently buy is this poncho for $5.50 delivered.

And I’ll PM you a code.

        • +1

@headphonejack: Thank you so much! That was a real bro move. The code applied successfuly, got the 1 year 40gb plan :)

        • @headphonejack: how do you look for free shipping deals? dont wanna buy something useless. thanks

        • @kev go westie: You can look under Marketplace, some of those items have free shipping, otherwise it’s a matter of waiting for a special promotion like the one I linked above.

        • +1

          @headphonejack:
Even that's gone up a little since, now $5.74.

Cheapest I've found so far is this USB-C cable for $5 (or others from that seller)

And just putting it out there, if anyone else has a spare code or two they aren't going to use, my PM is open ;)

  • Can someone verify if you can use giftcards with catchconnect?

    • I didn't see the option a month ago when signed up.

Really good value. Even beats Kogan!
    Catch Connect $238 (365 Days 15GB p/m)
    Kogan $254 (365 Days 16GB p/m)

Except it's Optus vs Vodafone network. Not exactly apples for apples…

      • So is it worth jumping on the Optus network?
During many years I've changed many providers so how is Optus right now?

        • +2

Voda is good these days but Optus is better.

        • @xywolap: How is Optus better? I don't care about download speeds as long as internet browsing works ok as well as network coverage.

        • +2

          @dealhunt:

For most people, the Optus 4G+ coverage is (much) better than Vodafone and (almost) equal to Telstra's 4GX.

In terms of speed, I found Vodafone to be decent yet Telstra was definitely (much) faster. And Optus was actually (slightly) even faster.

Depends on your personal address and exploration habits (Telstra's fallback-3G coverage and speed is still best), but this 4G/Generation Optus has been the much better value than the other two.

        • @Kangal:

          Telstra's 4GX

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that the 4GX is only available to people who buy Telstra brand phones.
And I don't trust the network coverage maps as they're misleading, one example in North Melbourne with third world like data coverage both Telstra and Optus.
Looking for alternatives to Telstra's resellers.

        • +2

Voda is much better for me in North-West and CBD Syd. I’m even on Kogan network (if that matters )

        • +2

          @dealhunt:

          Nope.
The "4GX" of "4GX Plus" are just branding that Telstra uses to differentiate their service from their older 4G network.
What it is, is basically using TWO radio frequencies while connecting.
So say you are streaming a YouTube video on your phone and you have good reception, it should be pulling most of the data from 700MHz (Band28) and some of the data from 1800MHz (Band 3). That way congestion is eased, the rate of the data is more consistent, and it allows the carrier to boost the signal so that its also faster. So when they sell a "4GX Phone" that really means "Telstra branded phone" and nothing special. Heck, I'm still using my grey-market LG G6 and its using "4GX+" without me even touching the Settings.

Optus does the same thing, but they brand it as "4G+".
Though they would typically use their 700MHz (Band28) space in conjunction with their 2600MHz (Band 7) radio.

Independant/third-party testing in late 2016 - early 2018 has consistently put Optus as being fastest 4G network. Which is why they also advertise it on TV as such. Telstra can brag about their coverage. Vodafone? their only option is to offer cheaper prices… strangely which they aren't.

Its hard (for us norms) to test how fast these networks really are on each frequency, since all modern iPhones and Android devices allow this clever hot-switching of dual connections automatically. Overall, our 4G network is good and our Broadband is bad on the international scale… which is why most people are now going "off the grid". Even more pathetic is that the NBN has given the green light to call 4G connectivity "NBN" as well… since in practice the 4G service is faster than FTTN for the average folk, yet people are expecting FTTP performance when they're told "NBN". I blame Liberals and Labour, ahssats.

This is one of those Qs that's very specific to your usage.

Broadly speaking, coverage wise (think regional) Telstra > Optus >> Vodafone.

          Within metro it varies greatly.

Personally (Sydney metro) I find Optus has had a lot of troubles with 4G lately. Full bars, no Internet connectivity. Switching Airplane mode on+off restores connectivity but god knows why. It's annoying enough that I've forced my phone to 3G only on Optus and that's actually more reliable.

Before anyone chimes in about frequency support of my phone, this isn't one of those cases. I've switched between Optus and Vodafone (and most times actually have both, dual SIM phone) for the past 18 months, and Vodafone is oddly more reliable.

For metro Sydney I'd go Vodafone over Optus right now. This is one of those things that changes every few months so this advice won't be true in another 3-6 months.

The deciding factor IMO is price since all of the networks have adequate coverage and different issues.

        • @Kangal: I'm getting nearly 70Mbps on Voda. Don't see why you would need more.

      • Optus is better than Voda

      • +2

Optus or Vodafone Id say is area specific same as Vs Telstra, I use to live in a spot that had no telstra coverage at all but the others were ok.

    • +1

All 180GB available from day one, which I think is better than Kogan's 16GB monthly. Thanks OP!

      • Yes you can use as much or as less as you want every month and have the rest left over for the remainder of the year.

With kogan you are stuck on a per month quota.

  • +3

Is this right? $139 a year that's approx $11.58 per month with 3.33Gb data each month.

  • -2

Works out $13.88/Month for 15GB Data, Great deal.

I thought 30% is from the advertised price?

  • Looks good but gonna wait a little bit to see if Kogan will try to beat this deal.

  • $99 aldi 365 plan that’s gonna come out Tomorrow if you don’t need big data.

  • Good deal. I would have bought this last month instead of Coles Mobile.

  • How about cashrwards. Get an extra 5% back and they have the 90 day double data deal listed. https://www.cashrewards.com.au/catch-connect just need TA to confirm and mods to update.

  • Anyone who is with them, how are their 4G speeds and coverage?

  • Anyone know what's their "New Customers" policy? I used their 90 day plan a few months ago and ported out after, will my number still be eligible?

  • May be a deal for a light usage family member, low enough risk to try out the service, if you need something in a pinch. Catch would mean no automatic quota-upgraded surprise for me however.

    Already locked in a $1:1 GB ratio at eBay Kogan DS midyear sale;

    (.99 * .80 * .95 * 254.30) / 192 =
    0.99653

I have Kogan 4G+ Telstra in dual SIM mode easy as.

  • Pretty good deal, bought one

  • +1

Thanks op, bought one too using the $15 off coupon code headphonejack mentioned earlier
