I have these and pretty happy with them.
Connectivity is really good, easy to pair (two devices at once)

Important - if you wear glasses all the time I do NOT recommend them.
They need a good seal to make most of them.

Also they aren't the most comfortable headphones around but you do get used to them.
The cups are pretty hard and have decent clamp pressure.
It does wear in a bit.

I wore them to Perth and back just recently and the noise cancellation did really well.
Can hear a very low hum from engines when enabled and when music is on you won't hear it much/if at all.
I'm really sensitive to noise cancellation pressure (main reason why I can't use Bose) and these have barely any pressure when noise cancelling is enabled which is great. The noise cancelling can influence the sound signature when on.. but on a plane I don't mind as I'm not doing any critical listening in that environment.

    • that is indeed a fantastic price but as I wear glasses I am soooo glad I tried them on in a store first. As you say…. not comfortable.

I've come to the conclusion that on-ear is the only comfortable method for someone with glasses (and a big head likely lol) so no noise cancelling for me.

Thanks op for what it’s worth here’s Choice comparison with Bose models https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/160676/61414/0f4f82a8-…
Note qc35 mark 1 but think apart from Siri etc is the same.

    • +1

Bose’s comfort score is only 62%? Please.

      • Pretty subjective love to know how they get that. I have the Sennheiser 550 s and they are like having hot plates on your ears. They get so warm.

        • I have the Senn550 too and it does get warm. Still haven't work out how to lower the audio tone when turning it on or connected to my phone. It is a bit loud.

      • i got the qc35ii and put them only daily for 2-3 hours..love them..

        • +1

Ditto. Of all the areas for them to do average on I'm not sure comforts the one. I think it's the one metric they basically always beat out the competition in, even their closer competitors like the Sony 1000x family.

Buyers gotta note that the B&W has a 8 hour battery live vs the 25 hours on the bose II.

    • +2

Man that comparison is bad. PX "wireless operational only"?? 8 hours battery life??
Many would disagree from a sound quality perspective too, majority of reviews consider PX better than the Bose.
Comfort wise though Bose are way better.

      • Not sure what you mean? 8 hrs etc?

        • +3

I was referring to the choice comparison you linked… it has bad information in it.

          1) The PX can be used (and comes with!) a 3.5 mm cord. Can also be used via USB-C. It's not "wireless operation only".
          2) Battery life is NOT 8 hours. It's way more than that as yingyang referred above (22 hours+)

If they can't get such basic information right, I'm not sure how much "trust" you'd put into it…

Anyways, I'm sure if people are spending this sort of money they'd do their due diligence and read as many reviews as possible (not just choice) and try to find somewhere they can demo the product in person.

        • @dlcx: true, hard to understand how they get it so wrong on battery though.

+1 just for op NOT adding a stupid and retard line like "First-time poster so be kind" (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/397852)

personally i am waiting for a good deal for Beoplay H9i (already own qc35, 25, 20)

Considering how brutal some people can be, I think the request is fair.

That being said I’ve been watching out for the same deal. The best I’ve seen for the H9i so far has been around the $560-$570 mark on eBay. Not sure if it’s sold lower anywhere else.

      • What colour? I can get the black for $487AUD and the tan for $401AUD, plus shipping (from the US). For reference, the PX would cost me $410AUD plus shipping, so definitely a better deal here.

        • I've not seen anywhere near that price before. Care to share where you found them?

        • @haritone: Amazon Warehouse. You'd need a reshipper. My mom works for free, so I just have to pay the actual cost of postage :)

Whenever I find an amazing deal, I just have it shipped to her and when it's piled up enough, she'll repack everything in a single box (and throw some extra goodies in).

Edit: Most stuff I've got from Amazon Warehouse is like-new, even if the description says "Good" or "Acceptable". There are exceptions though. I have my brother double-check any electronics before shipping here. Why he thought I'd want every episode of "How I Met Your Mother" on the 8TB external drive I ordered, I'll never know.

        • That’s a really good price. I didn’t pull the trigger previously because I thought it might go lower elsewhere. Was looking for the tan.

    • H9i is absolutely the best sounding NC headphone on the market. Tried QC35, XM2, PX.

    • I have a pair of H7's - love the build. Recently was after a set of ANC cans, the H9i was on my list of ANC possibilities but discounted as I figured it wouldn't be on sale anytime soon. Then I was looking at these B&W PX cans…but didn't see any deals until now!

Pulled the trigger on some PXC 550's instead.

      • h9i will probably be 20% off tomorrow on ebay.

        • It is but $596 through Video Pro. Someone selling for under $400 on eBay but 0 feedback so cant trust it.

        • @Syn88: I know. that guy is from Belgium. Dont want to take the risk.

  • Got a pair from the last deal. Build quality and audio is much better than the popular Sony, B&O H9. Haven't flight with them so can't comment on NC. Highly recommended.

    • Good for bass music?

      • They are generally ok but if you really like bass there may be better options (Sony perhaps from what I've read).
I'd prefer if they had a touch more tbh at times, but they aren't terrible either.

      • Wouldn't say so, I have these and a pair of Crossfade II Wireless and the PX certainly lacks 'oomph' in comparison.

        • How do you find the Crossfade Wireless 2?

I've got M-100s, and pretty tempted to buy the Crossfade Wireless 2 Codex edition. I'm a basshead, and from what I gather, the Crossfade Wireless 2 or the Sony (1000X or 950BT) would be the most suited to me.

Also tempted by Backbeat Pro 2, only for the AptX-LL support.

        • @caprimulgus: Yeah I really like them, but if you're coming from the M-100 then I'm not sure it's worth the money to jump to a similar sounding pair of headphones. I have the MDR1000X (1st gen of the Sony headphones) and they definitely pack more power to them but I'm not sure how the bass in the second gen holds up.

Anything in particular you want to know about them?

        • @Sebachoo:

Yeah, I'm leaning towards just grabbing a bluetooth receiver, and using my M100 "wireless" that way. I'm guessing the sound would be pretty similar (from what I gather, a bit less but tighter bass, and maybe a little better across the board?), so it would be a hell of a lot of money to pay just for the all-in-one sleekness of the CW2. Would be pretty handy not to have to deal with a dongle, though!

How are the CW2 in wired vs wireless? I remember reading the CW1 were meant to be pretty good in sounding the same whether wired or wireless - is that still the same for CW2? The sub-bass still comes through strong (from what I have read, it has a bit less than the M100)?

If only they added AptX-LL and AptX-HD to the Codex Edition, then it would have been pretty much the perfect headphone for me, to justify the upgrade! :)

        • @caprimulgus: Yep, tight bass is exactly how I'd describe the sound. Punchy but doesn't bleed too much into the other registers. The sound is still that artificial V-Moda sound though… no chance I'd use these for classical (which is where I love the PX) but if you listen to heavily "processed" sound anyway then it shouldn't matter.

The headphones don't sound different when wired but they're much quieter when driven through phone (as you'd probably expect).

Might be a dumb question but wouldn't using a dongle still bit a bit cumbersome? You still have to tuck the wires somewhere I assume…

        • @Sebachoo:

Yeah dongle is definitely cumbersome and not ideal!

But my main reason for wanting wireless is for portable Nintendo Switch use (using Genki bluetooth transmitter) - I want wireless (fully or partial) really just to prevent the cable snagging on public transport! A dongle would prevent the Switch being yanked out of my hands, and depending how I dealt with the cable/dongle, may at least minimise the chance of the headphones being yanked off my head.

I have had devices/headphones yanked by people on public transport before, so I'm just being (over)cautious for my Switch! :)

        • @caprimulgus: If that's the main use then why not some wireless earbuds? There's quite a few on sale on the Qantas site. The second gen truly wireless Sony ones have quite a boom bass too!

        • @Sebachoo:

Unfortunately I don't think there are any that support AptX-LL yet, which I would prefer for the lower latency for gaming.

I have actually ordered a pair of semi-wireless (neck cable) IEMs - Sennheiser Momentum Free / HD1 Free. They support AptX-LL, and seem to have ok (but not great) reviews - was a bit of an impulse purchase, just to have something to use as an ultra-portable setup!

I would prefer to have a full-sized headphone though, hence why M100 + dongle might be an ok compromise, to have a better sounding over-ear option when I want it! (Or at least, that's how I justify it!) :P

      • +2

These are not bass heavy, most "audiophile" headphones aren't. Bass on these is tight and accurate. Sound is well balanced and transparent, which I like.

    • edit
correction to my comment above "Build quality and audio is much better than the popular Sony, QC35II". The B&O H9 is quite good actually.

  • Also got a pair from the last deal. They're mostly pretty great, however when using ANC I found that sound quality suffers quite a lot. This may only be an issue because sound quality with ANC turned off is very good for wireless cans. Would recommend.

    • That's the same for all ANC headphones

    • Are you rocking latest firmware? I thought I recall reading something where they did some optimisation when ANC is on for sound quality in newer firmwares…

But for sure agree with you - there is a difference for sure when ANC on in general.
Most opinions I'd read prefer the office ANC profile as least impact. I'm inclined to agree but flight ANC profile does work well on a plane.

I usually don't use any ANC if possible.
They have a decent amount of passive noise cancellation I find.

  • +1

i have the Plantronics backbeat pro 2's… i find the ANC to be okay. sound quality to be decent and battery life to be excellent. Compared them to my brother QC35s and for the price difference, I'm happy with the purchase.

Thanks for the deal OP, passed on to my sister who is after some half decent ANC's.

  • Do you get a tax invoice with these that are eligible for TRS?

    • +1

You do, the dollar part is gst refundable.

  • I hate that these headphones ruined my hair style.

  • QC25 might be better value?

    • Cabled vs Wireless though.

  • Some reviewers noted uncomfortability for long-time wear ~1-2 hours, anybody else have similar issues?

    • The comfort is definitely not on the same level as some of the other headphones since it is relatively heavy. Whether it's unbearable will differ person to person, it's fine on my head but my girlfriend can't stand them.

      • Would you recommend against it on a flight of more than 2 hours?

        • +2

If you're buying headphones purely for flights then no, the noise cancelling isn't strong enough in my experience and your head will be sore by the end. You'll be better off with the QC35.

The strength of the PX is in the sound quality (for Bluetooth standards), build quality and looks damn pretty too.

  • Can anyone tell me how this compares with the Bowers & Wilkins P9 Signature headphones?

    • Sound signature is supposed to be similar, and a bit more neutral than the P7 Wireless.

      https://www.stereo.net.au/reviews/review-bowers-wilkins-px-n…

I'm coming from the P7 wireless, so I think I'll still enjoy them, even if there is less warmth in some tracks. I did try them out in DJs and using my test tracks from my iPhone, they still sound excellent. They're easy to drive, so you rarely have to go past 40% volume, unlike the B&O!

I think they're a decent price considering even with eBay 20% deals, you rarely get $200 of RRP, so thanks OP!

Poor battery life, better to get the QC II on sale.

    • +1

Poor battery life? Specifications are 22 hours for the B&W PX versus 20 hours for the Bose QC35 II?

  • How hot do these run? Been looking at getting a nice pair of NC BT headphones but my ears seem to run uncomfortably hot after awhile. These requiring a seal for optimal audio quality worries me a little.

  • There is a review with this Sony and Bose. The Sony won only because it was did the best out of the 3 in terms of features he was comparing. The PX had better sound and good quality feel. The Bose plasticky and felt cheaper. He though comfort was good and NC. The Sonys did well for just all round performance of NC, the look, and sound. At the price point for these BW they are worth a go if sound quality is high rather than the NC function. They do look much better than the other 2. But your not looking at yourself when your wearing them.

  • +2

I have this and also the Bose QC35 and got to admit for natural sound quality and presence they are miles better than Bose. Bose are better slightly for Noise cancellation and weight but for music these are fantastic. They are much better built and look and feel far more premium than the Bose.

You can hear notes in the music you would normally not hear on the stereo or far that matter even on the Bose which is a bit more bass heavy and not natural.

If you want pure sound these are the ones to get for everything else probably Bose.
