Hi everyone !
Scribd had an update to their website on 06/02/2018, essentially it removed credits for accessing audibooks, ebooks etc and allowed unlimited access. https://support.scribd.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000157466-Wh… has more on this. I've done some searching and I can't see that anyone has posted about this yet.
If you use a referral link (randomised ones are down below) you will get 60 days for free. Normally this is 30 days for new users, so it's saving ($8.99USD). The referrer will get an additional month added to their account, if their account is not currently using a free trial or a paid subscription. The sign up page are you follow the prompt will say "Sign up to start your free 30 days" but I can confirm it's definitely 60 days.
The website advises in their terms that "You will not receive a notice from us that Your Free Trial has ended or that the paid portion of Your Membership has begun" as a payment method is required for the 2 months (Paypal or Credit Card), and the free subscription does not continue after cancelling the free subscription, you will need to set a reminder for yourself to cancel this.
Some important things to note;
Scribd gives you access to ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, news, documents and sheet music.
Scribd has an app which can be used to access the above. https://support.scribd.com/hc/en-us/articles/210135386-What-… has more information on the compatibility with specific devices.
I've been using the app for the past few weeks and have accessed a combination of over 30+ ebooks and audiobooks and haven't hit any restrictions. The terms and policies says the following about what unlimited means "Your subscription entitles you to access an unlimited number of books and audiobooks in the Scribd library during the subscription period. For a small percentage of Scribd users who consume an unusual volume of materials, not every book or audiobook in the library will be immediately available."
It has a wide collection of books. For examples it has the recent release by James Comey. I am going on a holiday soon and they have a huge range of lonely planet guides. They've got The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing and The Art of the Deal by Donald Trump. This doesn't even scratch the surface of what they have.
When I tried making an account initially it did not let me use my yahoo email ending in .com.au - so you may need to use a different type.
When I tried out this referral process to make sure it worked I found that your email address will be displayed on the account of the referer. So please be careful with the email address you use for this.
Hopefully that covers everything. Happy to answer any questions from my time using this.
Cheers
Also just found that they have the audiobook version of the new book by Omarosa "Unhinged: An Insider's Account of the Trump White House" https://www.scribd.com/audiobook/385792138/Unhinged-An-Insid….
