Well, it depends on your needs and the kind of work you do.
Just picked up the MBP13 quad core but with 8GB and 256GB for $2549 via Apple Education
If you have access to that or JB Hifi Commercial that will get you the best price, otherwise, wait until another JB Hifi Apple sale
Edu discount is less than the 10% off sales though? $2600 still seems like a lot of cash for a laptop with only 8gb ram.
What do you use it for? If you dont mind previous gen chip, refurbished macbook is not too bad. I have a 5 year old refurbished Macbook Pro still going strong.
I use my laptop for a lot of dev work and VMs, just need a good spec laptop.
Maybe try JB?
This isn't a standard configuration. JB and other retail stores won't have them. Only option is Apple, you can get a discount for Edu.
As Mickel07 said, its not standard so you can only get through Apple store and get edu discount. But if you are looking for or happy to get a more standard config I just got a price beat from officworks on a mac from ifrog.com.au. Ended up being about 17% off top spec 15 inch macbook pro. Best deal going around. iFrog.com.au is worth a look.

hey! thanks! tried this today and scored the MR972X/A model for $3434.93 at Officeworks with ifrog price beat. Also had a staff card which should've taken an extra 5% off, that didn't work unfortunately. Thanks anyway!!!!!
Are there any other places that do price beat on the Macbook (not pro). Officeworks only carry the Pro and looking at getting the 12" one for my daughter.
