  • Skymesh has other data quota options, how much did you need?

  • Thanks , but i dont know yet .. mostly using as second link via uni-d port 2 , how abt i rephase the question to i want to pay around 30 bucks for this cheap connection.

The next tier up is 90g but 40bucks at skymesh .. nothing in between

mostly using as second link via uni-d port 2

For what purpose? is it a failover? If so, it is more economical to just buy prepaid mobile data when you need it rather than pay a fix amount every month which you might not use.

TPG has a "S Bundle" for $29.99 but you must either pay $99 setup, or lock yourself into a 18 mth contract for free setup.

You'll only get 10GB of data… which is very poor value, considering the speed is capped at 12mb. Prepaid SIM sounds like a better idea as there is zero commitment.

  • Telecube used to have a plan 12/1 speed 1,000 GB downloads. $35 per month. No longer available though but that was one great deal.

Exetel have a 12/1 plan only 100 GB downloads. $39.99 per month.

    • That telecube is one kickass deal !!

      • lol it sure was

$29.95 for 6GB sounds like a crap deal, even mobile data is cheaper.

  • As previous responses.

Mobile data is far cheaper than NBN for low users. I had the NBN with an Amaysim introductory offer which was $40 per month for unlimited data then when the offer expired and became $60 per month I switched to Buzz Telco for $19 per month then when that closed down I got a refund and had a month free with Aussie Broadband. I now no longer have the NBN connected.

It's a bit fiddly having to change the SIM card when they run out of data or time but I'm not bothered by that for a big saving.

My next provider will be Catch Connect which is 99 cents for 15GB over 1 month. I've previously used Kogan, Vodafone, Amaysim, Telstra, MyNetfone and pennytel over the last 6 months. All offers found on Ozbargain.

Just keep an eye out on here and take advantage of all the introductory deals. There's no need to continue after the introductory period.

  • Thanks for detailed responses, yes its used as backup, but 4g mobile dont work for me.

I just switched to telstra for my main nbn and got the free 4g backup smart modem, the backup kicked in as expected but its crap.

I regularly vpn home and the time when nbn is down is the time i need to vpn, telstra 4g dont do public ip so vpn dont work.

Not sure if other mobile providers do public ip?

I am after no contract/setup fee because i want the flexibility to switch to the next best el cheapo nbn provider when it becomes avaliable.

    Any suggestions most welcomed!!

    • Have you reported the fault of the connection dropping out? You shouldn't really be having drop out issues on an FTTP connection.

Also if it's an issue specific to your FTTP connection then having another provider active on one of the other UNI-D ports wouldn't necessarily solve your problem, it may drop out as well.

  • Not for this one, as i got sms from telstra about temp disconnection for 3 days due to "change of technology".

But 3 days without internet is making me think about what options are out there..

    • edit: ignore my comment

  • thanks that link is great but it dont show all the nbn providers available..

Still without internet for the 3rd day!!

      I got you my dude.

      https://www.fliptv.com.au/nbn/

      $40/month 12/1 unlimited for first 6 months.

$50/month 12/1 unlimited after 6 months special promotion period (so just change and find another)

Local / national calls unlimited for extra $10/month.

Local / national / mobile unlimited calls for $20/month

Unfortunately no international unlimited or even rates afaik.

      $50/month 25/10 unlimited for first 6 months.

$60/month 25/10 unlimited after 6 months special promotion period (so just change and find another after if want to save more money)

      $55/month 50/20 unlimited for first 6 months.

$65/month 50/20 unlimited after 6 months special promotion period (this is quite competitive but the best I have seen was around $50-60 a month for 50/20 unlimited but can't remember who it was or where now.

Yes the Telecube offer was a steal. 1TB is a little small for me but their data usage tracking system has been thankfully a bit broke recently and so I have been given some free days afaik this month.

12/1 unlimited $30/month would be ideal for my use case scenario.

  • Do telecube still offer 12/1 ?

    • They stopped offering 12 and 25 recently.

      • Crap I thought so , any other cheap offers going around

  • Cant find any cheap 12/1 service but feedback from here is to get 4g as backup hence I am going for beagle telecom 4g service .

This one has public ip .

    • Flip Tv was the only cheap 12/1 service I could find.

Lets be mates also has a cheap one.
