Looking for a phone mount for my galaxy s7. I don't want one of those big bulky ones which make you look like an uber driver. I got a small magnetic one from ebay that clips onto my air vent but it flies out everytime i brake hard and just doesn't hold well. Looking for something high quality and will spend up to $50 for something that will last.

Look at RAM mounts. They mightn't be exactly what you describe but they have a lifetime warranty and will fit almost any phone. Johnny Appleseed sell them.
I also highly recommend RAM mounts as they are the strongest mounts around. But yeah the OP seems to be after something sleeker.

Is it a generic no brand one? Those have weak-ass magnets. I had one, and had the same problem - phone would fly off all the time.
Get a Spigen one (or another branded one, but I have and can only vouch for the Spigen one) - it has much stronger magnets and never had an issue with the phone falling since. I got it since I like the form factor and it's easy to use (no adjusting arms/claws/etc), and I use it through a chunky Spigen phone case too without any issue.
It's not the magnet it's the clip which goes onto the vent that's weak. So the whole phone attached to the mount falls off.
Oh. Happy to report my Spigen one doesn't have that issue either, although that might depend as much on vent design as on the mount itself.

Not work well in some cars due to location of the vent.
I second the magnetic ones - very simple to use and never had it fly off. My partner has the opposite problem in that she can't get the phone off it cause the magnet is too strong. :)

Scosche! You can pick them up at JBHIFI or any similar shop for like $30. The support team is great. If anything happens like you want to relocate your mount, they're always happy to send you new adhesives and replacement products providing you tell them it wont stick anymore lol. Highly recommended product!
Also, i use the magnetic stickers through my life proof case and never have issues with it falling off. The magnets are STRONG!

i placed my xiaomi plate inside the iphone leather case and it wouldnt work :(
It's just magnetism. Likely the Xiaomi mount's magnets are too weak. Try something from another name brand.
I got a Baseus Car Mount Qi Wireless Charger from AliExpress, posted a link to the seller above, but it was classified as a referral link, so you'll need to search for it.
When used with a QC3 car charger it works really well and the vent attachment is rock solid.
I’m using the Logitech Trip (magnetic vent) without issues but I also don’t use a case.
