I'm looking to buy a $7,500 Carrera. I'm with Qantas FF, Velocity FF and FlyBuys - do you guys have any experience in getting bonus points for expensive jewellry?
Thanks!

Then you'll probably get a fake watch
Probably?
You do know that the Chinese specifically come to Australia to buy brand goods because its cheaper right… Perth is a popular destination for this.

Step out of the vehicle and hand over the Ozbargain badge.
Sounds like an investment that will hold its value if not appreciate in value.
Only time will tell.
Well done. I’ve Tag’d this comment for later.
I'm sort of going for that. Been reading a little bit about watch appreciation. The difficulty is that generally the sizable appreciation doesn't come until 50-60 yrs after purchase.
I've always had a particular preference for Tag Heuer but looking at some of the appreciation rates for Rolexs over the 40-50 year range has been unbelievable. Like 200-250%.
Use a credit card that gives you frequent flyer points?
Check whether your vendor is part of the Qantas Mall, the equivalent Velocity feature, the flybuys mall (if it's still around) or cash back sites like CashRewards.
Why don't you buy a Porsche (Carrera) from a car dealer like normal people? lol
Points aren’t going to be a huge part of the equation here - you’ll save most by buying from the most competitive AD/boutique. Discount varies a bit between brands but 20% minimum should be achievable on carrera. Buy with a Amex points card etc. Don’t buy for the first price you’re quoted shop around and haggle.
Do you have a link to the one you’re looking at?
This is really good advice. This is what I was looking to get:

Nice watch, well regarded movement as well.
Tags are a bit higher margin than Rolex / Omega / Tudor so bargain hard and shop around, lots of places stock tag. Shopping around the boutiques and trying on lots of watches is more fun than buying online and it’s important to see how it looks on the wrist. 43mm is not small so if you have small wrists check to make sure it doesn’t look too big.
For this kind of money I’d stay away from grey market online dealers - buying from an authorised dealer will give you more resale down the track anyway, make sure to keep your receipt and papers and box if you might sell later.
That watch is on the sporty side - nothing wrong with that but there are some popular options in your price range that would look dressier if needed but still looking good with t shirt and jeans:
Omega speedmaster (self winding not manual wind).
Rolex Explorer (the 39mm one)
But it’s most important to get what you like not what’s popular etc. the watchuseek forums can be worth checking for people’s experience with particular models and how they look on the wrist in real life.
Thanks so much for all of this info.
Does it have to be online? Westpac has the platinum Visa + Amex deal where you get 80,000 bonus points for $3000 on each card so you'd need them to split the payment.
What price is it usually?
I think it would be more interesting if you posted the model of the watch you are looking for, and we try and find you bargains for it.
At that price range, flying to just about anywhere to purchase it could be on the cards (depending on warranties, duties, etc).
Nice watch, it really is, But that much of money, I would rather go with Monaco Calibre 11
Forget the points - buy the watch from a vendor in China and it will cost you (at most) 10% of the priced you state
