I found them of solid build and of great acoustic performance. I've set them up as a widely separated, room filling stereo system, streaming any of the thousands of obscure internet radio stations (can't get google home to reach those). Very impressed.

This had been an acoustically blessed week, having bought the Nakamichi Delta 50 too, from this deal

Enjoy.

  • Does airplay, should be a good addition to all those ozbargainers that bought a Yamaha soundbar, reviews good too: https://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/yamaha-wx-010

Officeworks has these on clearance at $75 at tr moment but pretty much no stock anywhere.

    • Can you pair these with Yamaha YAS106 soundbar??

      • Yes, they can work together connected via Bluetooth.

The WX010 can also transmit stereo via Bluetooth. This is a rare feature, says here on a comparison with other strong contentors in this space.

    • Manage to buy the last one from Officeworks as we have no costco here!

  • room filling stereo system

    How big are these things??!!

    • :) Room filling stereo sound.

      Straight answer: Speaker size: 4.75 x 6.25 x 5.125" (120 x 160 x 130 mm)

      Audio Power: 25 W RMS.

Pairing two in stereo mode gives 50 W, ample for an average sized room. But what makes this setup awesome is the large spatial separation one could achieve. No wires connecting the units (just individual power cables), so can set them wide apart to create enveloping music, centered and almost "surround". The speakers' solid construction- at 1.7 Kg- and the natural, yet defined low audio end lends appreciable bass. So, rich low volume performance for quiet evenings. The sound can almost not be localised to the speakers, but is cocooning, from all around.

TWS Bluetooth speakers can be another way to obtain the above effect. But they still lack in reliable performance; TWS technology is not mature enough. Moreover, eliminating Bluetooth from the equation generally helps preserve audio quality, otherwise lost to audio compression. Most affordable TWS speakers has sync issues too. Learned it the hard way with two TDK TREK Micros, now collecting dust.

TL;DR: The stereo setup with the Yamaha WX-010 checks all the right boxes for me.

  • Anyone saw this in Ringwood?

  • +1

Don't waste your time. Been to Kilburn and none left. Told that staff bought them all.
    When did you buy them?

    • I brought two on Friday, 10th.

There were plenty left… both in black and white.
At the end of first aisle on left as one enters.

Buying two more later this week, for the kids' rooms.

      • Should have posted a deal :P

        • I returned a VQ Hepburn Mk II DAB radio and was really after another DAB unit, a Sony. Came across the WX-010, purchased spur-of-the-moment. That it was a nice bargain dawned on me, only when I did some price comparisons and review checks over the weekend.

          My bad, not posting earlier.
