Deals on RYOBI 18V ONE+ Power Tools.?

Has anyone seen any deals on RYOBI 18V ONE+ power tools. I'm after the larger batteries if they are better value (in a kit for example) on clearance somewhere.

RYOBI, is pretty much exclusive to burnings. if they are not discounting it I really doubt you would find it anywhere else.

ebay has a range of aftermarket non genuine batteries.. cant vouch for their quality.

second hand market on gum tree is probably your best bet.

what do you need a big battery for? how big?

  • Thanks for the reply.

4.0 - 5.0ah would be ideal as I'm not concerned with the weight. More power - More better.

Just hoping someone has seen some kits on clearance at a bunnings near them.

more Ah doesn't mean more power… just means lasts longer. all the tools in that range are 18V

      • The higher capacity batteries have less voltage sag and therefore more grunt.

        • Modern batter power tools use voltage regulators along with buck and possibly boost converters. This ensures the voltage is constant to the motors at least in modern brushless tools. If the battery cannot supply the voltage and current they will stop.

With cheap tools the power will probably be unregulated.

The bigger batteries do give more power. I have a couple of 4ah batteries and they run some items, like the blower, noticeably faster. There are more cells in a bigger battery and they are wired in parallel to increase the Ah without increasing the voltage. The more in parallel, the more current you can get out of them.

Have a read. Its good to be up to date about these things so you're not repeating out of date information.

Thanks for the input though. :)

I've seen a few times at Bunnings, usually a run out model. Fathers day/Christmas is about the only time you'll see any 'specials' in Ryobi other than the run out stuff. The specials trend to be limited to short run 'kits' that aren't bad value for money. Often when I go to bunnings I check to see if there is any run out stuff and have got a couple of 'upgrades' by selling my older stuff for near the same money as the new kit, but ended up with newer gear.

I purchased a run out line trimmer/blower kit (about $199) for the 4ah battery then sold the trimmer, blower and charger and ended up with a battery for around $30. Strangely, I couldn't sell the new trimmer, but managed to sell the old one for the same money I was asking for the new one so I ended up with some 'free' warranty.

    • I grabbed 2 of the blower + 5ah batteries for $99 each. Crazy good bargain

  • They've got the 5ah battery and hammer drill on sale currently for i think $149? that's a pretty good price

    • I can't see it, any idea where?

      • I saw it in store when i was there last. Maybe it was saturday?

Front page deal popped up today

    • Yeah, great timing. Off to buy a lottery ticket.

    • I can't see it, could you post the link.
      Cheers

  • Ryiobi is exclusive to Bunnings so there is no competition and you will pay more for it.

    • You can get it on eBay, but typically for more than you would pay at Bunnings and with no warranty.

  • Gumtree usually

  • …anyone tried the knock off batteries from ebay and can vouch for quality?
    im dubious but just wondering…
