  • Thanks OP. Any experiences with these brands? I've only used PIAA and osram silver star ultras H7

    • +2

Mine arrived today, so I'll be installing tonight. I obviously can't comment on their longevity, but the bulbs look well made and packaged, similar to Phillips and Osram bulbs I've used in the past.

Being +120% I don't expect them to last as long as normal bulbs. Ultra-bright lights of any brand don't last as long - it's a compromise between brightness and longevity. But I find that long life bulbs get quite dull after a few years and warrant replacing anyway.

  • Bah shame no buy one get one free on Philips ones. Not sure about using unknown brands, not worth the risk I think.

  • I just worry about the longevity of these? I wonder how long they'd last - given not just 60% brighter but 120%….with an unknown brand. Would it be the case that these could barely last 4-6 months?

    It's tempting though….

These are 3800k colour - what colour temp are usual globes by way of comparison?

    • My Phillips H7 ones are 3400k colour but I really cannot tell the difference unless it is some sort of super white or blue beam.

I think the higher number means whiter.

    • Regular globes are around 3000K.

    • According to Philips:
Standard halogen bulbs produce yellow light at 3200K.
Xenon HID technology produces white light at 4200K.
The colour temperature for bluish white light is 5000K.

  • Hmmm, my H7 Phillips x-tremevision plus 130% globes (cost me $79.99 but $48.85 at this site) both blew up a few months ago (not same time) and so are using some standard ones provided by my garage. Might go try these out due to cheap price.

Anyone here with experience with these globes?

    • Yep, I purchased the Phillips x-tremevision plus 130% globes on sale this Feb from this same seller and can recommend their speedy service and delivery. Although I have not installed these yet, they certainly look genuine.

  • German design but where is it made? hm

    • South Korea.

I had a pair of Osram and one blew in a little under a year. Powerbulbs customer service is second to none though. I sent them a receipt of my purchase and they sent me not one replacement bulb but a pair!

Also the first time I purchased from them, I used the bulb identification tool on their website and it told me to purchase an H4 bulb for my foglights. They came and it was the wrong ones and I got in touch with their customer service who acknowledged the error and refunded me right away.

I think with these higher performance bulbs, you should expect them die quicker than your regular OEM ones but it should certainly last longer than 'a few months'. That being said, having that kind of customer service and warranty (varies depending on the bulb) makes me feel a little better

I bought these as H7s in mid-June, and I love them. I'm not an expert, but they got a wow from me and my wife separately, in both our cars. I don't know about longevity.

They are warm in colour, and IMO a very nice colour.

They were £16 for two sets of two, which is roughly the same price as now.

I'm sorely tempted to get another batch.

    Any deals on H11 bulbs?

  • How easy is it to replace the bulbs yourself?

    • +2

Depends on the model of your car, usually you just twist the headlight housing dust cover behind the headlights and unplug the bulb and replace with the new one. Whatever you do, just don't touch the glass of the bulb itself else you risk the bulb blowing once its turned on.

Just received my 2 H7 sets a week ago.
Using them for my bike, I only notice a little improvement in terms of range.
These are designed in Germany, made in Korea according to the packaging.

But for the price, very happy.

    RE life span:
The brighter they are, the shorter the life span, its just the way it is.

I go to and from work in the dark 5 nights a week and drive a good 45 minutes each way, so I go through a lot of hours with my bulbs.
I've used both the Phillips and Osram 'high performance' bulbs from Powerbulbs for my country driving and they are so much better than standard bulbs as far as brightness goes.
Don't really notice a difference between the two brands to be honest.

As far as life of the bulbs go, I don't keep track properly, but I do get a lot of hours for the price I pay with these guys.

Recently got the deal promoted here and have them in the wife's car and they light up the road very well.
Going to buy another set at this price and store them all as spares.

Thanks for detailed comment helping myself and others for this product.

I live with mostly unlit roads also, so any improvement is a help and better for safety too.

I already went for this deal an hour ago, but feel good reading positive comments like yours.

  • Excellent customer service from this supplier. I had a minor issue and they sorted me out with a new set instantly.

  • Got those today. Was torn between these and long life bulbs. At $7/bulb I decided to try these. See how we go.

    • Let us know what they're like when you install them - brightness, colour temp etc?

      • Will do.

      • I got them today. The post office moved pretty fast, was expecting them 15th September.

I have replaced my LED headlights with these.

A comparison one next to the other: https://i.imgur.com/nH6kRdL.jpg ignore the fact that the headlights are not clean.

Just installed them today, didn't ride during the night.

Looks great man! You seem to have foggy headlights though - I suggest you to buy this kit, easy to use and will make them stand out and light up the road ahead more.

If you want to go the ozbargain way and save $$, get a toothbrush and rub toothpaste on the headlights until they start to clear up, then wash away with water. Takes about 10-15 mins to clean both.

          @koalafied: Thank you.

The headlight are all right, just rode through Melbourne weather last week and are now extremely dirty.

Thank you for the toothbrush tip :)
