Personalised necklace

Looking at getting a personalised necklace with a name or even a cross and a name engraved onto the cross. Any suggestions on what shops to start with? Never bought a necklace before. Would be looking to spend a couple hundred

Find out whether the person you’re buying for typically wears yellow or white gold jewellery and buy what matches their other jewellery.

Compare gold content when making comparisons - 18 carat is 75% gold which is the typical amount for a high end piece, nothing wrong with 9 or 14 carat if required to come into budget. Silver tarnishes easier but can be cleaned with a neat science trick and is much cheaper than gold.

Jewellery can be marked up a lot make sure to shop around a bit. I know people who have used Blue Nile for engagement rings no issues they sell necklaces as well:

Probably don’t use these guys and do some reading if going the online route guess it’s an example of what can go wrong:

    • This.

Take (your girlfriend?) to a jewellery shop and let her pick something out.

  • @aaronza OP if you do and up finding someone that does the personalised name neckless can you let us know who you used and cost. Wouldn't mind getting one for my partner. Been thinking about it as well.

  • Try Etsy

  • If you are buying for someone else then please make sure it is something they would like. It is a bit of money for something they would wear out of respect to your feelings. I would look at something like ETSY to look at a range of options.

  • I have a friend in Ballarat, Vic. who is a silversmith - she makes some awesome individualised jewellery. You can communicate with her from the planning stage (of your order) until the end, so that it is exactly what you want. Check out her website: https://www.rachelgrosejewellery.com/ and facebook page 'Rachel Gross Jewellery'

  • For jewellery I like to see the product before I buy so I stay off the Internet and go to Chinatown in Sydney, prices are way cheaper than the junk in main jewellery shops sell.
