  • Lmao get it from Optus

I’ve added the link to that deal. Cheers!

    • I really wish Optus offer Surface as well…

      • Simple. Get the S4 deal. Sell it. Buy the surface with the proceeds.

      • Me too :(

Better off getting a Surface Go.

    • It uses a Pentium Gold 4415Y. That's a budget processor equivalent to Celerons. For the price they charge, the specs aren't great. I think it's 64GB eMMC for the base model which is slow.

Windows is going to struggle on this. It chugs already on i5.

And the resolution is less than FHD. So your movies have to be downscaled.

It's not even that much cheaper than Surface Pro. I would recommend forking out a few hundred extra for SP.

I want to like this product but the price is just absurd..for an Android tablet that probably won't get long term support/updates yes you are better off getting an iPad (even though I dislike Apple), or a Surface Go/Pro

    • Agreed. I have a Surface 3 (the one with the Atom processor) and an iPad pro, and between them, I don't even see a need to touch my S2 any more.

  • Yeah, when you compare it to the Microsoft Surface Go its a no brainer. Samsung got completely embarrassed by Microsoft in that fight. In fact all of Samsung's new announcements were so underwhelming it's barely worth taking about them.

    • but that screen!

    • spec for spec, I'd take this over the Go any day. There is nothing good about the Go. It's a poor man's Surface Pro.

4415Y with a hilarious slow 64GB eMMC and 4GB RAM on base model (128GB SSD model is not cheap) and a resolution only 1800px wide. Pay up for the Pro if you want a Surface.

For the 8/128GB Go with a Pen, you're paying $980. A Pro i5 is not much more if you find it on sale, and is leaps and bounds better.

      • Kind of funny I found a very similar specced Dell Venue 7000 for roughly $260 AUD second hand.

It is a great email, web browser, youtube player machine very portable but I would not pay more than $300 for it.

        4300Y cpu, 4gb ram, 256gb hdd.

Was a steal but i definitely could have paid nearer to $200 for it if i bargained but did not want to scare the seller off.

      • I wouldn't take this simply because there's squat all in the way of proper tab-optimised apps on Android.

I have an old Android tablet (S2 10.5), A Surface 3 and an iPad Pro. In between the Surface 3 (which is hardly a performer at all with its Atom processor, but still can run MS Office quite fine, and has a full-sized USB port plus a micro-USB port which can be converted to another USB port with a cheap OTG adapter) and the iPad Pro (which absolutely kills Android tablets when it comes to apps), the Android tab never leaves the drawer.

Samsung can cram an i9 into an Android tablet, but it still won't make up for the piss poor app selection for tablets on Android.
