Is the ALDI spin bike ($199) any good?

Hi all

Aldi's selling a spin bike for $199 on special on 11/08/2018. Just wondering if anyone knows if the Aldi spin bike is decent and worth the price?

It's got 2 yr warranty, and would be great for netflix and stationary exercising.

Someone else posted a deal on the treadmill, and its already got plenty of upvotes. Also aware that Aldi's crane bike was really good from other posts around here, but that was a real bike.

  • If you buy these exercise things, most likely it will end up on council curb cleanup not before long. You can get enough exercise by walking 30 minutes per day.

    • You do not get enough exercise by walking 30mins per day.

I'm sure you walk more than 30mins per day without trying.
You need to do at least 20mins of moderate intensity exercise per day - such as jogging

if OP likes watching TV / movie series

just put in front of TV and he'll ride it all night long

IME cheap treadmills, cycles and rowing machines are false economy. They always fall apart quickly.

    • but aldi has no frills aftersales

just need to carry 40kg back

  • For $200 you can't really expect much in reality. I would assume it would work okayish.

Buy a 2nd hand bike for $200 - Cycling and going nowhere is so freaking boring!

  • I bought a spin bike…i hated it. They're completely different to normal exercise bikes, not to sound lazy but i was hoping to sit and pedal, not have to standup and pedal. The spin bike is really awkward and uncomfortable i found, you have to lean forward constantly, and just look at the position of the lady in the picture

  • Hi Pizzaofpeace

Please let us know if you buy the Aldi spin bike and what you think of it as I'm thinking of getting one too?

I've been riding the Aldi Crane exercise bike for 2 months and it's great - solid and quiet, but I still wonder if a spin bike would be better.

Getting a bit off topic but I use the Crane while watching YouTube spin classes (search Cat Kom and GCN) and they really work you hard, alternating sitting and standing up on the pedals to work different muscles. If I get bored with the commentary I put on my own music and just watch the vision.

I've found that stationary cycling has some great advantages like being able to ride any time I like and not having to worry about traffic, weather, flat tyres, helmets, or how I look. I don't have to get off and feel embarrassed pushing it up a hill either.

Cycling has been kind to my wonky knees.

    Cheers

  • Did the spin bikes arrive at any Aldi stores yesterday? I looked at 4551 and nothing. The Aldi messenger system says no stock. Anyone hsve success?

    • If you are in Victoria they didn't get them for some reason even though they were advertised in the catalogue. However, they had some in Yesterday but they weren't in the catalogue.

      • Maybe useful for next year if they are on sale again, but I bought one for Christmas and put it together yesterday. It is working as it should and most of it seems pretty solid construction. It seems as good as my Endurance branded one (RRP $1,100) so it is good value.
