Are These ALDI Power Tools Value for Money?

Aldi is having a garden power tool sale this weekend
Just wondering if these three tools represent good value for money
they have a three year warranty

  • 4 stroke petrol lawn edger (31cc full crank engine) $189
  • 4 stroke petrol brush cutter/line trimmer (31cc full crank engine) $179
  • 4 stroke blower vac (24.5cc full crank engine) $169

I know ALDI have a sixty day return policy, but if they are no good, don't want to waste everyone's time
thanks in advance :)

i bought the petrol line trimmer last time it was on sale, and the thing was ridiculously hard to start. I even took it to a lawn mower shop and they couldn't get it started.. ended up returning it but while I was returning it, 2 other people were returning theirs too

    • I didn't have a problem with starting my Aldi line trimmer but the plastic throttle broke in less than a month and I couldn't repair it. I ended up returning mine and getting the ryobi 2 stroke one from bunnings

      • silly question but what is 2 stroke as opposed to 4 stroke
and is Ryobi a decent brand
(not pulling your leg, have not clue)

How much are you mowing/snipping? Go battery, much more reliable.

  • block size 850
using a Honda mower, still going strong after ten years (never ever started on the first yank as they claimed it would)

definitely need a lawn edger for the nature strip

will need a hedge trimmer (borrowed an electric one, with a long extension wire, wasn't fun)

definitely need a brush cutter/ line trimmer (prefer metal(

    iffy on the blower vac

    • Similar block size here. Around 250m of edging and I can knock it over on one 4ah battery charge for the 18v line trimmer and have enough left over for the blower to clean up the drive. Battery hedger works pretty well too to maintain hedges -but it’s not really enough if the hedges are out of control, best for light trimming/shaping.

      • Which brand?

        • Ryobi, but only because I started with a Ryobi drill and had compatible batteries.

  • You can get a Husqvarna line trimmer for $199. They have 5 years warranty and in my experience very reliable.
