Razer Blade 14 (i7-7700, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, GTX1060) $2,184.05 Delivered @ Microsoft eBay

PENNY5

Yes, it's a little long in the tooth with the 7700 and yes, its a whole lot of money for a laptop.
Still, it's cheaper than the current gen Blade 15 with similar specs and a last-gen processor.

Not too shabby for 16GB RAM + 512GB SSD on a 14in form factor (1.92kg). Only downside is the CPU+graphics.

Some may not consider this a bargain, but at a price that is not too dissimilar to a decked-out Stealth, I would buy that for a dollar and two thousand ninety-eight more.

People more interested in current gen or the 1070 might want to look at the 8750H equipped new Blade 15s. Prices start at $2899 though.

  • Awesome little machine

INB4 people coming with their 300 pound bulls saying it has better specs for less cost. I call these the macbook pros of gaming.

When purchasing a laptop: Price, Performance, Form factor. Choose (upto) two.

    • But but but I could buy a Clevo with a better CPU and GPU and it's only twice the weight and thickness, with half the battery life and noisy fans with a crap pwm profile. It's a MUCH BETTER DEAL BRO.

$2,184.05 Delivered on their eBay store with the code PENNY5.

    • Alternatively you can also buy it via the redirect from the Qantas online mall for 2x Frequent Flyer points per $, if that’s your thing

      • You can also get QFF points via ebay.

        • Good point!

Good price considering build quality and form factor.

  • Don't buy razer laptops for the pure point that they don't have the simple function of stop charge at X percent like everyone vendor. You'll find yourself in like 1-2 years with a swollen battery.

    • Perhaps, but batteries are cheap to replace. Most times I've replaced a battery in an old laptop it's about $20-25 for a 6-cell generic one.

All considered, that's probably both the cheapest thing to replace, as well as being able to access another 10-20% of the battery's capacity whilst mobile that is otherwise sitting unused. I'd happily trade battery life for battery capacity, but that's me.

Besides, this is a gaming PC. The times when you need battery capacity are (probably) limited if you're buying this as a gamer where you'd be plugged in all the time anyway, so losing capacity after a couple of years is not a biggie.

      • Have you ever tried to source a battery for a Razer laptop? They are absolutely not cheap or easy to replace. They are custom. Replacing with OEM means shipping the laptop back to Razer, waiting between 1 and 3 weeks to get it back, and paying between $100 to $250 depending what country you are in.
Razer Blade machines are awesome (I bought one in 2014) but the batteries start with great performance and then go way downhill within a couple of years. My laptop is now considered obsolete hardware by Razer after 4 years and they no longer even stock a replacement battery for it. My battery life is now 20 minutes. The only option I have is to try to source compatible cells and build my own using the old battery case. The $100 replacements on eBay continually get exposed for being fakes that don't work. A Google search will show a bunch of forum posts with Razer Blade users having the same issue.
If you don't need portability, then rather than buying an ultra-slim, ultra-light laptop, just buy a desktop which will have better specs at a cheaper price.
I was very happy with my Razer for the first couple of years but because of the battery issues I would have a hard time recommending their products.

    • Like dells etc? Having XPS with swollen batteries after 1-2 years also. What brands then?

  • My company provided me with Razer for work laptop but i already went through 3 laptops over last 2 years. Issues were :

    a) Within 3 months, my Razer Stealth 12" was crashing quite frequently. Was told to uninstall and reinstall windows etc. Help for around 2 weeks - 3 weeks.
    b) After 8 months, the keyboard will occasionally working. Cant even type password at Windows screen, or even press the F10 (or F5 for initial setup).
    b) After that the computer cant start up properly keep looping (i.e. stuck at the setup screen). Had to send for repair, and was told chere is water damage (despite i havent drop a single water on it). Given a generic picture of the 'opened laptop keyboard showing some brown stain'. Argued with them it is impossible to get water damage, but insurance covered the repair (cost like $500 for the repair).
    d) Got a replacement laptop (from IT)- Like everyone else, within 6 months battery got inflated to the point i cant close my laptop. This was interesting as my boss computer also had a same issue. Send both back and they wanted to charge us for the repair, and we sort of threaten them with ACCC on basis they should be doing a recall as it was interesting this happen to 2 computer at the same time therefore there is definitely something wrong with the computer.
    e) The replacement (from repair) was given to my team member, within 1st day the keyboard was not working, keep crashing etc - had to resend back for repair again (this time was free though).

Am now using the 13" version, so far touch wood - no issues yet but i am only 1 month into this current PC.

  • Does anyone know how long it takes for the new models to make their way to Australia?
We currently have no stock for the Razer Blade 15s with 144hz, and the 4k version isnt even listed on the Australian razer site yet. Nobody from Razer or Microsoft seems to have any idea when they will come to Australia or how much the 4k version will cost.
