Personally have had good experiences with my Mi Band 2.
Had it for probably about a year and have used/worn it everyday. One of the highlights is definitely the battery life.
The device's sunlight legibility is definitely not good but I don't think I ever felt it had good sunlight legibility.
Read my links above - the OLED display degrades very fast, even without usage. Mine used to be great. I could easily read it anytime, even in daylight. The other day, when using it again after a few months, I thought it was broken because I could not see the display light up at all. Only in the darkness I could see it was actually on.
If you read about this issue, you will read that many people have had issues, with brightness and screen colour varying vastly between watches, and many of these things losing all brightness after a year.
Yes I saw. And it definitely sounds like a real issue.
I just think it's important to share both positive and negative, and I'm sharing it as someone who's used it everyday for a year compared to your situation where you used it for ~20 days.
Sounds like a quality control issue.
As I said, I don't think the Mi Band 2 (or my Mi Band 2) ever had good sunlight legibility, and I don't feel any significant degradation in the level of brightness of the device in the dark/indoors. Not to say there is none - but nothing that has felt like it has affected real usage.

Looks nice, but after the brightness issues on my MiBand 2, I'm not so eager to try again. My Miband 2 is now unusable, as the display has become unreadable in daylight, even on a cloudy day. And that is with very minimal use (may have worn it 20 days).
