Jetstar International Flight out of Melbourne - and Qantas Lounge Passes

2 adults and 2 kids (aged 11 and 7)

Just wondering if 2 (or perhaps 4) qantas lounge passes can be used at Melbourne airport, even though we are on Jetstar flight from Melb to Honolulu

What specific lounge can we access?

Thanks in advance!

Two children age 2 to 17 (no limit on under 2 years old) are allowed per Lounge Pass.

Try using Google next time, or call Qantas, or call Jetstar…. Or Tweet at either of them… Or message them on Facebook… Or post on their Facebook page….
So many options, yet you chose Ozbargain for some odd reason.

Actually my experience has been that complimentary lounge passes will only admit one person, and each kid will need one too.

In fact, this is reflected in the first Qantas link you posted:

Under Guests: Please note Lounge Access Passes, including Complimentary Invitations, strictly do not permit any guests or children.

You may be lucky and find a lounge attendant who will let your kids in with you on two passes, but I wouldn't bet on it.

To answer the other questions, yes you can use the passes before a Jetstar flight, and you would have access to the Qantas International Business Lounge in T2, which is unfortunately one of their more out-dated ones.

      • Under Guests: Please note Lounge Access Passes, including Complimentary Invitations, strictly do not permit any guests or children.

Even more reason to seek the answer from the source, so incorrect information is not provided.

It is almost like I gave the wrong information on purpose, knowing the OP would be too lazy to even read the Qantas website. Thus, setting them up for disappointment as a punishment for their laziness.

    • Hey Drew great message

Yes i googled and there is conflicting info on child access with various passes

Also as ozbargain is a huge platform for the daily sales of qantas lounge passes, it makes sense that people here would probably be in the know.

Another point, there is an International Business lounge as well as a First lounge. And some other lounge whereby you pay $40USD to access it. Hence my question about specifics….

      Sorry to trouble your eyes

Have you tried looking on the Qantas website?
        Have you tried calling Qantas?
Have you tried messaging Qantas on Facebook?
Have you tried posting on the Qantas Facebook page?
Have you trier tweeting Qantas on Twitter?
Have you tried looking on the Jetstar website?
        Have you tried calling Jetstar?
Have you tried messaging Jetstar on Facebook?
Have you tried posting on the Jetstar Facebook page?
Have you tried tweeting Jetstar on Twitter?
You know, getting on contact with either of the two companies concerned.

        No, you did not.
If you had (which you had not), you would have found the link I posted by simply Googling for "Qantas Lounge Access Pass" as the first result and see a section for Pass Access which CLEARLY states kids need their own pass.

Why gotta be a prick? If the questions angers you so much, why don't you just move on and ignore it?

          @Cyphar:

          It doesn't anger me.
But, if my post angers you, feel free to ignore it and move on.

        • Nope, just acknowledging your jackassery. If I feel like I need to tell somebody off on the internet, I tend to do the adult thing and move on. I don't waste my energy on trivial things like that. Doesn't hurt to be polite.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day :)

        • @Cyphar:

Instead of just giving the OP a piece of fish, I am teaching them how to fish….

        • @Cyphar: While I kinda agree with your take on Drew22,

If I feel like I need to tell somebody off on the internet, I tend to do the adult thing and move on.

This is unintentionally(?) hilarious given your previous comment was telling off Drew22…

        • @HighAndDry: There's always an exception :P

Qantas Lounge passes do not have the same rules as Qantas Club memberships or Business Class/Frequent Flyer programs.

It is strictly one person per pass. If you have a child, only infants are allowed on your pass. Older kids will need their own pass. In this case, you will need 4 complete passes. You can use it if flying Jetstar

Melbourne's QF Business Lounge isn't very good. It's accurately named the dungeon. There are no windows and gets cramped on busy peak periods. My suggestion instead is to follow the OzB Dragonpass guide to secure 4 tickets to the Plaza Premier Lounge instead. I have used both as both a Priority Pass member & a Qantas CLub member (I currently hold both as I frequently travel multiple airlines and don't care much for loyalty) and in Melbourne, much prefer the latter lounge.

    • Thank you cypher, great info!

  • Per @Cyphar, it is 1 person per pass. I gave up 4 of mine (complimentary through credit cards) a couple months back - in Sydney. No budging on getting in the kids for free.

RE: Melbourne, please see note on this page which could affect you

    • FYI, that's the domestic Qantas Club only. As OP is flying direct with Jetstar from Melbourne to Hawaii, they would be using the T2 International Lounge which remains unaffected =)
