  • Made an appointment, dropped it off in the morning and got it back later that day - Note 8. I think it depends on whether they have stock on hand or not.

    • Was your screen broken / cracked?

I have a small but visible scratch on my screen and Samsung Chadstone refuse to replace it unless the screen is broken.

I don't blame them one bit! Anyone with a broken screen would be waiting weeks or months if Samsung were also replacing scratched screens!

But the terms didn't specify the type of damage.

"If you accidently damage the screen of your new Galaxy Note8 within 12 months of the purchase date of your device*, we will repair the damaged screen at no charge*."

          scratches = wear & tear =/= damage

        • @phunkydude:

If you scratched your car would you consider it wear and tear? Should insurance refuse to fix it?

Part of the reason I didn't use a screen protector on my note 8 is because I believed they would fix it when I accumulated enough scratches for it to bother me, now that it has happened I'm disappointed with their response.

If I had smashed my screen on the counter and handed it to them they wouldn't have any issue accepting the phone.

        • @dny:

your screen comes in contact with all sorts of stuff daily .. like sand in pocket

your scratched screen = car tire kerbing rash

insurance won't replace your car tire for kerbing rash

        • @phunkydude:

I'm going to assume you mean wheels instead of tires.

And yes, insurance will fix your wheels if you pay the excess and are happy to accept a claim against your policy.

    • Thanks for that. I'm going to get it back same day too.

      • yeah it was a pretty easy process, mine took a day though but my appointment was around 1-ish

        • Did you have to log out of your apps or delete anything confidential before handing your phone over?

@kyle: yeah you have to reset your phone unfortunately, otherwise they don't accept your phone

        • @enzioFirenze:

Reset it there on the spot?

        • @kyle:

Got my own answer. The staff member removes the accounts and resets the phone right in front of you. It's going to take 2 to 3 days to get it back.

      • I mean I'm hoping to get it back the same day.
