To All Owners of R56

Recently got this beauty and wanted to change the exhaust.
The question is.. does she still pop and bang with aftermarket exhaust?
Thanks

  • pops & bang ?

    akrapovic

    • Akras are tastefully refined (and bloody expensive).

If you want pops and bangs, Armytrix. Bloody awful but if you're into that sort of thing…

"does she still pop and bang"

    Don't say it Zed.

    • Shenanigans.

  • You clicked on the wrong chrome tab

  • R56 .. that sounds like a badass car. Oh wait, it is a Mini. Nevermind…

I thought it was a better version of R32. I was wrong.

    • I thought it was a better version of R36. I was wrong.

      • I was thinking badass update to the R-9. I was wrong.

  • That's a Mini Cooper…?

It'd depend on the exhaust. But whatever you do, don't update the ECU - apparently they revised it to decrease the popping in the exhaust note.

      too many lady owners complained?

      • About the popping or the banging…?

Really? I'm a lady owner of the F60 JCW. I love the popping sound, I ain't complainin'.

@phunkydude: until they start banging all over the place

          Amen to that!

Didn't expect to find other Mini owners on OzB.

I initially read RS6 and got excited

  • Are mini owners now so wanky they’ve started referring to their POS’ like wanky BMW drivers? Not all of us care about your bloody serial number Tourette’s.

    • +2

Well, ladies can be car enthusiasts too.

It's actually one of easier ways to refer to a specific model, especially when referring to ones that have naming conventions like BMW who don't differentiate between year models in the name of the car.

Also - Mini is owned by BMW, so technically, Mini drivers are BMW drivers…

Didn't know Minis came in Men's

      They don’t… :D

  • I don’t see why not. It’s more the amount of unburnt fuel the ECU allows thru.. Factory tuned ECU hardly allows for any pops & bangs - if you’re after some real noise, go for a custom tune such as Manic - if you don’t mind a little extra sound at the expense of potentially blowing up your engine and voiding your warranty. lol
