Can You Stick 20x 70c Stamps on Parcel Post over Auspost Counter?

Anyone tried posting parcel by stamps ?

I got quite a bit of 70c stamps left that I'd like to use them.

I know I should ask Auspost instead but I'm thinking they'll be more reluctant to reject if I showed up with stamps already on the parcel.

Thanks.

yeah should be good - my local post office does it all the time because they make more money using stamps..

Stamps are thier own currency so they should not be able to reject it.

Yes. I posted a wii u with postage stamps, they covered the entire top of the box except the address.

  • No. They would not be at all bothered at all, they wont be disadvantaged. The only issue is that the parcel wont come with proof of acceptance in case it gets lost and you need to claim your postage + $50 max value back… It will look like you have sent nothing at all. Maybe use registered post sticker for $2.95 or similar.

you mean they won't give me a receipt when i post it over the counter ?

They won't give you a receipt of lodgement if you put stamps over it as there is nothing to scan. Pay the extra few bucks for registered post or Signature on delivery if you want some kind of proof

  • What am I missing here?
    a) either walk up to your local Post Office or LPO and ask them the question, or
    b) just rock up with the stamps stuck on the parcel - they cannot reject to accept any postal item with properly affixed (AND PAID FOR) postage.
It is just me that reckon some folk just post absolutely inane time-wasting questions on these boards? Thereby devaluing the usefulness of OZ to all!

No, but as you get older you have already had a lot of experience but not everyone in life is where you are and rather than go in baffled they are simply asking the question online.

Yeah but now that the answer is here others can benefit from the knowledge. If OP just went and asked in person then the information wouldn't be here.
Collectively it's better for 1 or none of us to go to the Post Office than all of us. Took much less time to read this thread.

  • i'm still unhappy that I can't use my roll of registered post stickers on parcels now :(
